Re: Vs Mansfield
I had the Mansfield commentary on ifollow; they were very complimentary about us pretty much all game
Re: Vs Mansfield
This is a rarity a whole twelve pages on this blog without a negative or derogatory comment about the team or it’s manager. Having followed the blog for many years you become aware of the people who find it almost impossible to give praise to David Dunn and his team even when it is deserved, well tonight it came together and the ‘boys did good’
This performance was a culmination of improved performance week on week, we so close against Bolton and Walsall and deserved better than just two points from the two games Well tonight we played a very poor Mansfield team off the park.
I took the opportunity tonight to listen to the Mansfield commentary while watching the match on iFollow and the co commentary team for the home side were full of praise for Barrow and thought Mansfield were lucky not to have eight put past them and also added Barrow were one of the best sides they had seen this season.
Well done David Dunn and the Barrow side, some of us believed that it would come good.

Re: Vs Mansfield
9 goals in the last 3 games.
8 different goalscorers.
Anybody still wondering where the goals are coming from?

Brilliant that.
Fair play to the whole team and manager. Great performance. Buzzing.

Re: Vs Mansfield
We have looked so much better the last 3 games and tonight was a deserved 3 points. We played them off the park.
I have been highly critical of the football Dunn played early season but tonight was a masterclass. We moved the ball quickly and the front two ran all night long. That seems to be his style, to get the ball forward down the flanks and the top two being awkward, causing havoc.
James was superb, Kay was a threat, Biggins had his best game by far and proved me and doubters wrong that he can succeed at this level as he controlled the midfield alongside Taylor and Jones who were both excellent. I think Dunn has found his best team if you include Quigley for Angus.
A special shout out to Brough who I think is so important. He covers Kay defensively and is always an outlet. His delivery ain't half bad either.
Now, for perspective it must be said that Mansfield stood off us for the opening 30 minutes which is a huge error of judgement against us....they were pretty poor and they will struggle if they play like that all season, but lets not take anything away from the lads who were class.
It is one game. And one win doesn't make a season, but it is clear that things have improved from the Newport/Carlisle games. As much as DD deserved criticism early on, he deserves a lot of credit for that performance as it was clearly moulded in the style he wants to play.
Onto Saturday now and hopefully we can put a run together.

I hope Rob Kelly does not go to Valley Parade on Saturday where he thought Barrow were playing at, as we are at home to Bradford City.

Re: Vs Mansfield
Manager Graham Coughlan was sacked after Mansfield's winless run - their worst in English Football League history - was stretched to 12 games by a Barrow side who recorded their first win since their promotion to League Two for this season.
It was a night to forget all round for the Stags, who had debutant defender Aaron O'Driscoll sent-off just after the break for two bookable offences.
Coughlan took charge in December 2019 after Bristol Rovers "reluctantly" gave permission for him to leave his role at the Memorial Ground, but he won just four of 27 games in charge.
Barrow took charge after 10 minutes when Josh Kay's low ball across goal was slid home by Bradley Barry at the far post, and a second followed when Patrick Brough advanced unopposed before firing home low from 25 yards.
The home side sneaked their way back into the game before half-time when Bluebirds goalkeeper Joel Dixon dropped a high ball and James Perch smashed home high into the net.
Nicky Maynard almost levelled on 49 minutes but Dixon superbly turned his 30-yard effort onto the crossbar.
Hopes of a fightback were dented when O'Driscoll was dismissed two minutes later and Barrow made them pay when Luke James set up Kay to curl in before Harrison Biggins sent a low 20-yard shot just inside the post to make it 4-1.
Harry Charsley poked home Kellan Gordon's low cross in the 89th minute for a late consolation, not enough to spoil the Barrow celebrations.

Re: Vs Mansfield
Terrific performance tonight. Even with all our injuries, the quality has been noticeably improving over the last 3 games.
Judging by the Mansfield forum they were expecting to turn us over tonight. They played what they thought was an attacking formation against us with Cook and Maynard up front playing together for the first time. What they clearly did not prepare for was our ability to attack with pace from wide defensive positions. Dont think they matched up properly and they could've paid an even bigger price. Not surprising therefore that their manager Graham Coughlan was sacked straight after the game.
Be interesting to see if we can carry this into saturdays game.
