Nice touch of MJ's to walk round the ground applauding the fans at the end

Re: Barrow v tranmere match thread
I thought those 2 were the pick although Hird, Brough and Brown also played well as did Hardcastle and Beadling in midfield. I thought our strikers and, particularly our wide players were poor though. I particularly watched Hardcastle tonight and he every pass he made went to a Barrow player. He's a level above any of our other midfield players and having him back is a huge bonus.blumooncrab wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:19 pm Dixon and Platt outstanding, I thought. Biggins- mindless - doing that just after we equalise from the kick off, in the middle of the park when he’s already on a yellow. Very disappointing to say the least .

I also thought Beadling had a decent game. Joel was very good tonight & a worthy MOTM winner, just edging out Connor for the award IMO.Jim wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:11 pmI thought Beadling did ok. Defended well, broke up play and generally used the ball well.boyliegladbach wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:03 pm 7 points from 9 got to be pleased with that.
Centre of Park all 3 of them awful tonight
Would’ve been happy with a point before the game and I’m definitely happy with one after it...seven out of nine points and against three decent (ish) teams...we’re on the right track.
Great to hear so much noise from the HSE - it must’ve given the players a boost. Also good to see MJ take a walk around the pitch applauding the supporters at the end of the game.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Really entertaining game that. Dixon, Platt & Quigley all excellent, but Connor Brown was my MOTM. Don’t even want to see exactly what went on with the red card but even discounting that it would be a travesty if Harrison Biggins ever pulled on a Barrow shirt again. God awful footballer, and to top it he looks like he’d rather be anywhere than here right now.
On the lap of honour at the end, Jolley had a real aura about him I felt. It really felt like he was looking each individual in the eyes and thanking them for their support. Good to see.
One major downside for me was the brainless ‘Feed the Scousers’ chant that emanated from the Holker end after the red card. I get it, football songs don’t have to be factually correct, so we can ignore the fact that Tranmere aren’t based in Liverpool. But what I can’t ignore is a song from a group of supporters in a town stricken by severe poverty, singing about having to feed another poverty stricken place. It’s absolutely tasteless and in a year when so many local people are struggling to make ends meet, pretty disgusting.

Tranmere are one of the best teams in the division for me, good point with 10 men

Great point and wonderful to have fans back. But how many would have been allowed in if they had attended?

Re: Barrow v tranmere match thread
Well done to all ... a battling performance to come back from a goal down ...and to overcome the loss of a player and fight all the way to the end to get something from the game . The belief is back amongst the squad now ...
If we keep this undefeated run going we will begin to rise up the table . Great work lads . Solid performance from the keeper and no late goals flying in for a few games now ( how many points had we lost that way this season ) . The signs are looking a lot better . More of the same, guys

First match : Barrow v Northampton Town : Sat. 24th Sept. 1960 ... won 1-0... ( which was nice )

Re: Barrow v tranmere match thread
Good game to watch and a good point - if it hadn't been for the sending off we may well have won that game.
As for Biggins - he gave the ball away weakly in the build up to their goal and made a few other sloppy passes - but what he didn't do however was hide - 5-10 mins before the penalty he nearly scored with a shot from the middle of the box that was deflected wide and then played his part in the build up to the penalty.
Then came the red card and basically Vaughan was too experienced for Biggins - he knew exactly what he was doing running into him from the kick off and Biggins fell for it - although Vaughan should probably have got a straight red for retaliation. There is a player in Biggins and he will come back from this - but not I think with Barrow.... He's suspended for the next match and Jolley has his own midfield targets to bring in. With Hardcastle fit he will play in the Biggins roll and C Taylor will slot back into the team for now.

If that is the last game we will be allowed to attend for a while it was a cracker; Tranmere were a decent side and it was a massive result to get a point with ten men. Platt and Dixon excellent again; Quigley is always a real handful, would love to see him with a natural goalscorer alongside him. Great to see Jolley go round the full ground applauding after the game, starting to create a bond with the fans already

Re: Barrow v tranmere match thread
Thawed out. Glad of a point tonight. A month ago we've had lost that. We can do better.
Re: Barrow v tranmere match thread
I noticed a few people in the Holker end started to Boo when the players took a knee before KO but quickly went silent.
We started like a house on fire (1st 20 min we looked great) then we just switched off for large spells. Their goal was from a poor clearance but we deserved a point. Game could have been 4-4 so im not shocked Dixon got MOTM. Brown had a good match but passed back a bit too much tonight and Biggins had good spells but just doesn't look the player we need with poor passes and awareness of whats around him. Personally I'd have brought Hardcastle on in the second half as no football for weeks then straight in the team was maybe a bit too soon although he did have a OK game, however i thought at times (quite a lot) when the ball was kicked into midfield area it always landed at a Tranmere player and our midfield looked miles away from the ball!
Tranmere looked more aggressive, 1st to the ball on most occasions so i think our new manager needs to do a bit of work and possibly some new additions to the squad when the transfer window opens. Hopefully 3 points vs Exeter on Saturday!

Well said, feed the scousers is an incredibly mild/banter song (unless your a snowflake) compared to some of the songs from the 80s 90s.bluebird90 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:34 pmProbably sums up 2020 more that somebody gets offended by something so petty.BarrowHarry wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 10:27 pm Really entertaining game that.
