Re: January Transfer window
I presume he is close to starting then. Was looking forward to seeing what he could do as well.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Good move for both parties, he gets game time and hopefully comes back to help us on the promotion push in a few weeks

Re: January Transfer window
despite all the shouts for a new striker there are 8 teams with a worse goalscoring record than us... we've only scored 1 less than FGR who are in 2nd in the league. It's the other end of the pitch we needed to strengthen - which we have. Baker Richardson going out on loan will do him and us good - if he has a successful loan spell that could help us next season.

Re: January Transfer window
Agree with this. If you replace the word "striker" with "goal scorer" then by looking at the stats and making the assumption that our immediate priority is to stay in L2 rather than mount some kind of challenge then what MJ is doing makes more sense. Our problem initially was who was scoring the goals rather than the fact that we weren't scoring at all. Most agreed that the comparative lack of goals scored by forwards was to some extent the product of a poorly performing midfield and Jolley has tended to try try and address this in the window rather than seek out more expensive options up front.chipmunx wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 1:41 am despite all the shouts for a new striker there are 8 teams with a worse goalscoring record than us... we've only scored 1 less than FGR who are in 2nd in the league. Defence is the best form of attack!
Re: January Transfer window
Happy enough with Quigley and James for now, as long as there is a realistic threat to their places on the bench. Is there?

I'll be gobsmacked if Devitt and Banks don't chip in with a few.
Don't let the old man in.

Ben Davies going to Celtic from Preston (in the summer) pre contract agreement reached. Pressure off the Matt Platt rumoured move? or does this push it nearer (if its true of course).

Re: January Transfer window
there is a striker who looks to be available at present and is at a team who have already loaned us a player.
Charles Vernam at Burton Albion....
He was on loan from Grimsby to Chorley last season and scored their 1st goal in the match at Barrow. He then was recalled by his then team Grimsby and got 9 goals in L2 when they recalled him. Grimsby don't seam interested in him going back there.
