Re: New Seats Going In Holker Street End
Not sure if this answers any of the questions flying around but these are from today. Decent little spot really.
I’m sure we had temporary seats in there for the Colne FAT game in 1990.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Looking too posh for Barrow AFC .Well done to everyone concerned.Looks like a massive improvement.
Re: New Seats Going In Holker Street End
Yep looks good. I wonder if away fan standing will still be allowed either side of this seating area?

Too much metal. Rip it up and start again.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.
If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Re: New Seats Going In Holker Street End
Im guessing plastic seats are going onto these surely this cant be classed as seating at present?
All opinions expressed are my own , not here to cause kick off just enact debate.
Re: New Seats Going In Holker Street End
120 seats are going in the first two sections of the HSE, 60 per section. As I understand it this brings up (and possibly a little over) the 1000 seats in total needed by the end of this season.
There are (I think) twelve sections to the HSE, two with the new seats and the equivalent of one section with barriers and yellow paint leaving nine to install more seats in the way you suggest. Nine sixties are 540 so with the main stand as at present that leaves us, say 400 short. Where do they go?
Don't forget a seated place takes more room than a standing place so more seats in existing spectator standing space reduces total ground capacity which had to be 4000 by the end of this season and will need to be 5000 in two years time.

Re: New Seats Going In Holker Street End
So whats the current ground capacity it must only be around 4500 to 4800 I'd guess as we probably lost space for 150 to 200 behind the cross bar end

Its one of life's mysteries. No one knows.Walneywanderer1979 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:33 pm So whats the current ground capacity it must only be around 4500 to 4800 I'd guess as we probably lost space for 150 to 200 behind the cross bar end
It has increased though with the addition of HSE roof, barriers, additional turnstiles took it to around 5200, this even with shutting off the Crossbar end.

Maybe they'll put some open terrace each side of the main stand to get capacity to required levels? I think thats allowed and it's a cheaper option?

Re: New Seats Going In Holker Street End
When the main stand was made the capacity was about 1030;- this got reduced slightly later when a wall was put around the directors seating area and the front row of the block with the letter B in it was removed. This took the number slightly under 1000. The number had to be over 1000 to get into the EFL - so the row on the B was re-installed to achieve this. This means you are incorrect in your understanding on the seat numbers.Hadrian wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:00 pm120 seats are going in the first two sections of the HSE, 60 per section. Re: New Seats Going In Holker Street End
I'm sure the club will be mindful of what it needs to do to each season to stay in the football league in terms of money
More investors; sponsors, thinking outside the box etc.. I have every faith in the current custodians of the club
