retained list out

For all things Barrow AFC. Keep discussions civil and fair, we're all Barrow aren't we!

It's no better than last season's at the moment which was far from decent as the league position proves!
If, we lose Dixon and Barry, which would not be a surprise, then it will be worse than last season.
Whether it's a decent squad or not will depend on how many good players are signed.
The table doesn't lie, we know that, but any manager coming in must surely be happy with what we already have on the books, I think that is the point being made.

Shipped out the dross and the deadwood and left with a core of players to add to and shape.
If you are classifying all the released players as dross, then only Josh Kay and Chris Taylor of them played more than a few games.

Why are we retaining Brown and Taylor?
Really like both players, good squad members of our national league team but how are we progressing with them next season?
We already have Jones, Beadling, Banks and Devitt for centre midfield. Add Taylor to that and it doesn’t leave us much room to improve that area. Are we really saying we’re strong enough there with those 5?
Wouldn’t have offered a deal to a Ntlhe either, other than having a good leap and being decent in the air for someone who’s not the tallest I can’t think of any other quality he brings to the team. Injury prone, deceptively slow, unable to pass forward and unreliable when it comes to completing 90 minutes and playing twice a week.
I think I’m right in thinking that it’s just 20 players over 21yo we can have next season (unless that rules been dropped) so we don’t have a lot of room for the complete rebuild I was hoping for.

Decent core of players there with key positions being filled and all the deadwood going. Can't see why you're so negative

There's room for at least 10 new signings - that's a rebuild.

Absolutely right Adam. Good decisions all round I say. Really hope Mike Jones gets back to full fitness, best footballer at the club, would be like a new signing

Agree We don`t know if jones (at his age) will be the same player , Devitt good player injury prone misses more than he play`s,Taylor will be back up can`t play every week ,Ntilhe distribution is shocking gets caught out of position a lot.

If the 4 we’ve offered re-sign and Lillie re-signs that’s 15 players over 21yo, leaving only 5 new signings.

I was well aware of that,Adam but given that Burns never kicked a ball and Jones only managed a dozen games it would have been no surprise to see them both mutually agree to cancel their contracts - surely we wouldn't expect them to get paid for another season on the treatment table. In fact Burns has been taking an Open University course on the offchance that he wouldn.t recover and his career would be over.

He’s probably never even been to Barrow

Good list all in all, I think Barry & Dixon will be gone sadly. Lots of work to do for the new management some good players there to build around. Only need another 10 :)

He played in the friendly against Holker Old Boys back in August.

Why would you cancel your contract and put yourself out of work?
It's the nature of professional sport that people get injured, you can't just terminate their contract because it.
