To save on travel and overnight stay costs i would suspect. Can travel Friday morning for a night match but not on a Saturday for a 3pm kick off when its such a long way.

Newport and Colchester are doing it for a lot of their Saturday northern trips

Rochdale v Colchester last week was a Friday
Harrogate v Newport this week as well as our game with Colchester
And our game at home to Newport in 2 weeks

Less expenses for hotels as Gazza T says
Also means they can sell iFollow passes to their supporters who wouldn’t travel AND profit from it

we should do it against Colchester when we go down in January so we can profit from the I follow passes as well

Shouldn't be allowed, football should be at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
Can't believe we agreed to it.

Lets hope then that we never gravitate to a level where someone wants to televise our games live because none of those would be on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm.

Stockport played all their league games at home on a Friday for years so as not to clash with either City or United playing on a Saturday. As in this case its a matter of simple economics thats driving it and I've no objection to it on those grounds as a supporter of a club that spends more than its fair share on travelling expenses. If Dover had adopted the same attitude a couple of years ago we might not have lost all those pies when they didn't turn up.

For us it provides a chance to evaluate attendances on a Friday night and I believe the RL might be playing again on the Saturday. We might also be asking for the favour to be returned at some point. Lastly, although Colchester I'm sure will be getting off their bus for a bit of a kick about at some point in their journey, a 300 mile coach trip is not ideal preparation for an evening game so they are taking more of a risk by doing so than normal.

The rugby moved their game way after we moved ours so that isn’t part of the reason
Their game was moved due to issues with the visiting team

For those of us who live a long way from Barrow, any day a match can be played to allow the use of IFollow is great.

Did come up for the two league cup games and was fairly shattered when I got back home to Manc particularly as they do loads of road works on M6 after sunset. So won't be making the trips up to the next two home games but as you say at least I've got ifollow to fall back on. But the bottom line is I'd rather see games live and not on TV. However, if i lived further away from Barrow then ifollow is perfect.

Agree. As far as I can see absolutely no explanation has been given by the club as to why this was moved from the Saturday.

Can't beat a night under the floodlights at Holker Street. Plus lots of the lads that play on Saturdays can watch on a Friday night.

You just noticed, your on the ball aren’t you.
Personally nothing better, Friday night under the lights, gives all those lads who enjoy playing on a Saturday, the chance to attend. I’d make every home game a Friday night.

Not that simple loads of people work shifts, other commitments also if it goes on iFollow lots of people watch this on illegal streams ,not against the odd game but if Fridays were so good why aren't lots of clubs doing this ,?
Also limits the number of away fans!, imagine the complaints on here if other teams changed to a Friday night!

Exeter Tuesday night game 2512 home fans
Bristol Saturday 1823 home fans.

Let’s see what Friday brings as I would expect it to be pushing 2500 again.
