Personally I've been unimpressed with Ellis so far so he may not be the answer. With this system our wing backs need to be very mobile. Good or fast breaking teams hit you down the flanks so force the centre backs out of position which happened to Jones & Grayson last night. Brough in particular needs to do his bit. On top of that Taylor, Ellis are not the quickest hence the stupid goals we concede. Been said by me and many others on here why is MC so reluctant to play Arthur. Dread what Cookie might do to us next week.
I have to strongly disagree. Ellis is the first name on the team sheet for me. Strong in the tackle and puts his head on every ball. A solid 8/10 every game and we have missed his experience and organisational skills. We got away with it at Oldham but got found out last night. Jason Taylor has been great for us but a C/H he is not. I would hope a centre half who is a free agent signs this week.
Agrre to disagree on Ellis - hope i'm proved totally wrong. But Arthur situation is a big mystery to me. If he's good enough why would we need a free agent? As they will probably be not match fit

If we are going to climb this league,we need to cut out the stupid mistakes at the back.Having started off well we gifted them a goal straight after scoring
and then a second before half time. Then having equalised we again fell asleep and allowed them to take all three points.Like Mark Cooper said, mistakes decide games in this league so let,s hope we learn in time for the Bradford game.

I agree with you re Ellis but I don't think Arthur is any better and am not convinced about Grayson either! Until we get Platt back I think we are going to struggle defensively. Really like the 2 young lads from what I've seen but we really need White playing because he is the only sitting midfield player we have who can give the defenders a bit of protection. Gotts and Stevens play high leaving only Banks playing deeper but he's a creative player not a tackler and if he happens to get dispossessed is not quick enough to catch anybody. If we play a back 3 it would be James Jones, Platt and Brough every day for me but that would leave us without a left sided wing back! If that has to be Brough, I'd play Nthle on the left side of the 3. Unfortunately Nthle seems to be a bit of a sicknote and Platt seems to be going the same way!

We have so many who even last season seem to always be injured and made of glass…..Kosi and Platt two that stand out to me. Since being in the EFL I’d love to know how many games they’ve actually been available for.

Platts a superb talent when fit but I fear his injury issues are massively going to hamper any progress he makes in the game.

I’m starting to agree regarding Matt Platt now unfortunately, as mentioned he’s a cracking player with strong potential to play at a higher level but sadly he can’t contribute to the team with lengthy spells on the sidelines, if that’s down to bad luck or training methods I don’t know.

Stress fracture of the L5 vertebrae is 100% related to over use or poor preparation in professional sports people. So Matt Platt is a case study for Mark Coopers criticisms. Nothing to do with pre disposed weakness.

Treatment is rest and gentle exercise. Recovery time is 6 weeks. Another 3 to regain match fitness. So you won’t see Matt Platt until mid October earliest. But he should be fine as long as he is used carefully from there onwards.
