We don't need smart arses like Jolley who learned everything they know in a book. We need an experienced manager to keep it simple and get the best of what he has.
Agreed.

May depend on what sort of demands he and/or his agent make.

He wasn’t afforded a honeymoon period because we needed results straight away. He has managed to do that by quickly assessing our issues, not panicking and giving these players an extra 10% and the belief that they can get results. We look a different team in a short space of time.

Let’s see how we finish the season now we are safe. Three games against top sides will give him more time to assess this group and who may still be here next season

Personally wouldn't put too much store on the next three games. The "playing for contracts" thing is a myth. Most footballers get the flip-flops on once there is nothing at stake.

You really are a condescending xyz aren’t you!!
Always pulling people on stuff, I have zero interest in Swindon so didn’t see how unkept he was But did notice it when he rocked up here & anyone must see it’s not very professional is it, That’s the only thing he has done wrong since being here so it’s nothing really except surprising to turn up like like that knowing cameras will be snapping you for the media.

For me the most important think going into next season is continuity. The last two seasons we've started off on the back foot with new managers who didn't know the squad they were inheriting. By keeping us up Phil Brown deserves a crack at next season. He will already know who he wants to keep and those he doesn't and is probably identifying possible targets as we speak. He's got a mixed record in management but has had success in the past. Certainly his motivational skills seem good. Its a gamble buy it would be with anyone a club at our level is likely to be able to attract. I think it's important to go into the close season on the front foot with a manager in pladce and not be playing catch up this time. Maybe incentivise with a rolling contract of 1 year plus the promise of a years extension by Christmas if we're doing ok. I'm sure we'd all be happy with mid table obscurity next season as we gradually build and try and cement our place in the Football League.

We have been to hell and back with our three previous Managers, Brown’s positivity combined with his incredible achievement will do for me. Two-year renewable deal.

Brown and McDonald get my backing. After Evett left we had people saying 'we have to get this next appointment right'. And after Dunn. And after Jolley. And after Cooper. No shit, Sherlocks. Saying so doesn't award you any insight points. Yes, we are better than a pub team, but we are not PL team. We are not a championship team. We are NOT an attractive option that allows us to pick the cream of the crop. Brown has done what many (myself included) thought couldn't be done. I honestly thought were were down. He has managed to get some great performances from somebody else's team and I, for one, want to see what he can do with his own team. Platt aside, we have our core players on contract (whatever a contract is worth) and I want to see what he will add to the team in the close season. One thing is for sure...WE HAVE TO GET THIS ONE RIGHT (just in case you didn't know).

What are you on about? Are you suggesting he needs a military grade short back and sides and a new suit? Bizarre.

Appears to be suggesting he shouldn't have started work until he had visited Teasy Weasy and Gok Wan?

An important point: Neil McDonald - also an experienced manager - is an important part of the rescue package, as was the case last year with Rob Kelly. PB has regularly mentioned his input, e.g. on set pieces. Would he want to remain part of the package longer term?

We are trying to grow into being an EFL club, Next season we need experience and we need someone who wants to do it. Brown is the man for me. He's already here, he's had a head start and he has seen where we need to improve. Why go back and undo all that?

Lessons learned- We were looking for the next Evatt and we failed three times in doing that. We could try that again and get it wrong again. With Brown, we have someone with positive character and the battle scars and he’s been there and i think he is the man who can give us that stability and confidence to help us establish ourselves. We don't seem confident as an EFL club and that has to be down to 48 years of non league.

Wonder what Stevenage fans think about Evans as he has been their saviour this season (I'm sure someone on the forum will tell me). He's not the worlds well dressed man either. As RedWeb said talking about Browns appearance is bizarre to put it mildly.

Friend at Southend said he really liked Brown in his second spell there but it went sour when he got a budget after they were relegated so that's something to be aware of. Being a league manager he probably underestimated the type of player required at NL level I don't know but they are doing OK now with a manager who knows the lie of the land in that division.

I feel the decision needs to be made as soon as the season is over so the manager can have a clear say in who stays and who goes. Any appointment is a risk at whatever level you come in at. Man Utd appointment of Ten Hag is such a case - no experience on English football management etc etc

For me the BOD will already by looking closely at what Brown has done, is doing and hopefully coming to conclusions about his suitability. However, as I said earlier, the decision needs to be quick. I honestly haven't got a clue if Brown is the right man but on gut feeling I'd say he's in poll position if he wants the job and a contract can be agreed by all parties.

That is my feeling exactly & that was told as much to me by someone at the club last season. We must get over that feeling now. Hartlepool and Harrogate did. I still feel Sutton are enjoying their "honeymoon" season at present plus the fact they have a stable management team.

On the subject of Harrogate they could have an interesting season next year not sure which way it will go for them.
