It’s worth remembering that we released Kay last year and Cooper signed him on later, so the new man may want to look again at those released (hopefully not) or pull any contract offers not signed!
As things stand we have a relegation strength squad and the new manager needs to look to shift half a dozen of those remaining.

Or the board stand up and accept responsibility for the crap managers they appointed signing them and fund them themselves outside of the squad budget while at the same time appointing one of a select band of ruthless intermediaries to ship them out preferably permanently but on loan till the end of their contracts if need be.

The good news is that apart from Banks it seems as if none have more than a year left on their current contracts so in most cases a couple of half-season loans at 80% of their current salaries would see a considerable saving.

And as for Mike Jones i.d say people are being a little unfair on a player who prior to arriving at Holker Street had a pretty good record for staying fit and being a conscientious guy so the club have to accept responsibility for whats almost certainly a career-ending injury received while playing for them.

100% isn't. He's a good defender for League 2. Could pass for a mid/lower League 1 but nothing more (from his showing at Barrow)

As I said weeks ago Nige, M6BLUE is a carlisle supporter from Penrith who can't stand Barrow being in the efl.
I really don't understand the naivety of people that think the majority of carlisle fans are welcoming of Barrow as another efl club from cumbria in league2. They detest us.
Paul Simpson is another one from carlisle who couldn't bring himself to say anything nice about Barrow after the game at Holker Street. All Simpson did was slag the ground off without any recourse to the fact that we are new to the league and need time to get the required work done.
The only club locally that has been welcoming of our return was Morecambe who ironically, carlisle see as their derby rather than Barrow.

I'd have to agree. Hasn't done it consistently for a full season at this level yet. On his day excellent a rock at the back and very classy, but prone to the odd error ie. Bradford and Carlisle home. If he can cut those out he'll make it he's still only 24. Still our best defender by a mile though and a big loss.

Amazed that we're keeping James Jones, never seen a 6'3 centre half lose headers against opponents a foot smaller and he's so weak not aggressive enough. Squad player at best but I'd rather have Mark Ellis for that who is a proper warrior.

Understand the wording on James Jones indicated that terms were still to be agreed. Shouldn’t imagine they’ll be too generous.

As for Platt he will be a loss but his departure has been clear to quite a few on this forum for a while. Depends on who he has agreed to go to. If he’s interested in his career it needs to be a team playing better football preferably at a higher level. He has some weaknesses and has also exhibited some attitude issues on the pitch that may attest to issues with his character.

However, difficult as it is to admit, he’s never going to explore his capabilities in the sh1t shower of a squad he’s been playing in over the last couple of years.

I used to get frustrated by his lack of goals, very weak in the opposition’s penalty area for a big lad. Come to think of it attack wise I also expected more from Ellis and Canavan.
I liked Brownies quote about paying centre halves by the stitches they collected, set pieces have been so wasteful for most of the season.

None of them are aggressive enough in both boxes and that is an issue the next Manager needs to address. Defending corners / wide ball was our Achilles and has been for a long time.

Think Platt knew he was leaving hence his drop of performance towards the end he got back to his old self knowing he was playing his last games fir us.
Think he will be off to Bolton or Stockport.

I'm a Carlisle fan too. Everything you have wrote here, Mall, is complete rubbish.
