Unfortunately the owners do not have a bottomless pit of money that can keep throwing at the club. Like everyone energy price rises and cost of living rises will affect their businesses and lives just like us all and the worst is yet to come in October.
Rising energy costs shouldn’t massively effect something that will cost 100’s of thousands that should have already been budgeted for. I’m all for the tightening of belts but end of the day if we don’t have 2000 seats by April we will be kicked out of the league. It’s literally that simple.

It may very well have been budgeted for at the beginning of this season but as anybody that works in the building trade will tell you materials are literally rising on a weekly basis making it impossible for estimated to be given for large projects. Any estimate the club may have got for the work in the autumn will have gone up by at least 30% since then. Put that on for example an estimate of £100,000 that’s a big extra chunk of cash required compared to what you though you required originally I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes at the moment with costs rising and decisions to be made on all fronts

Has anyone actually seen a “plan” for what has been decided? Not been mentioned since the previous CEO provided an update months ago.

Will they need planning permission? If so the Council website should have it listed.

That’s speculation. Any decent builder would know, as you say, the price rises on a weekly basis so would estimate accordingly for when the job needed completed. You can’t sit behind a screen and justify the way the board have spent their own money on the club when it will come and bite us on the arse for not having enough seats. Did anyone actually make a projection for the future or did Hornby and co think we would have one year in the EFL and think that a shite roof would make the best impact for a non-League club instead of 2000 seats?

12 months ago nobody could have foreseen the energy price rises or cost of living rises we are now seeing and will continue to see for at least another 12 months. All cost projections made since the beginning of the season on the ground improvements required now will have been blown out of the water hence the club are taking stock and are probably re-evaluatig how they are going to both manage and finance the extra seating within the time frame the EFL allow.

Perhaps in view of the rising costs and the pandemic affecting income they could appeal to the EFL to give them extra time.

You all want to know the truth? The board don’t want to plow the money in out of their own pockets. Fair enough.

1+1+1=3. The signs are there:
Pulling the academy plug
Delaying ground improvements
Phil brown walking away from a “done deal”

Tie your boots boys and girls. It’s going to be a long 12 months

On Tuesday night you posted saying that scrapping the academy plans was a sensible idea. Now you’ve got the club on the brink of bankruptcy?
Can we see your workings on the point that it was Brown that walked away from the deal rather than it was Barrow who (rightfully) pulled the plug?

A sensible idea because of where the club is. Spending cash on some 16 year hopefuls would be a waste of resources right now. I also agree with you about brown being the wrong man to take us forward but he turned his back on us, the plug wasn’t pulled.

Probably just a bitter parent as his son was deemed wracked off by the club. Ignore him

I’m not a parent at all never mind a parent to a 16 year old. If you read the above post, i think scrapping the academy for the coming 12-18 months is a good idea, if money is tight and the cash is needed elsewhere.

I just think all signs and signals coming out of the club right now point to the withdrawal of Mr Shearer and Mr Hornby endless pockets of cash and the club tightening the purse strings to become a more sustainable self run club.

The owners have worked miracles to get the club to where it is and I certainly wouldn’t begrudge them that, but feel it’s going to be a long old year.

It’s just my opinion and I’m free to air it on a unofficial forum.

Stop causing unnecessary trouble based on unfounded theories, if you really support the club WHY have you just suddenly arrived? bye bye 👋
