With our record of signing ex-Carlisle players (with the notable exception of Brough), I think we should be very careful. Mike Jones, Devitt and Zanzala, for different reasons, have all proved to be money down the drain!

You need to listen to Pete Wilds interview after the game on Saturday. He says “everyone’s obsessed with big centre forwards. It’s the right centre forward we need. We don’t want a big lump up there smashing the ball to him” Wild ain’t interested in that type of football

Wild said he’s not bothered about size as he will not just lump it up to someone. Welcome Lewis

Agreed. I hope this is a wind-up.

So the three trialists that were left by the end of pre season are:

Benni Smales-Braithwaite - Winger
Pawel Zuk - Right Back
Cieran Dunne - Left Back

Maybe the first two are the projects he keeps talking about whilst Dunne is more of fitting in with what he actually needs.
Something in Benni I like, far from the finished article but definitely a work in progress and Pawel has done well in the two games that I have seen.

I'm not sold at all on BSB having watched the friendlies. Seems like a highlights reel player. Can produce something amazing every now and then but isn't consistent.

Zuk looks decent, hard worker but don't know if we need another right back. Was playing 3rd division Polish football last season so I don't think he'll be expecting a big wage.

Dunne looked fast and quick with his feet against Fleetwood and Salford but only played small sections so hard to judge.

It doesn’t matter if they are 6’5” or 5’6” the important thing is they can be in the right place and can score from the one touch. Three times we took an extra touch in the box against Salford and the chance was gone. They have to be instinctive when half a chance comes along.

Is that not meant to be our ‘fox in the box’s’ job? 🤔

Any of them. Too many good chances needing an extra touch v Salford. We have a lot of attack minded players but that is different to first time finishers.

Seasons not even started yet and people are getting at players. Put your energy into supporting and getting behind the lads.
