Whichever way you look at it, I've always felt more connection to Lancashire than Cumbria.
The language, accents, general demeanour north of the county is nothing like around the Furness/duddon estuary area. Anywhere that calls a bun a teacake is no area of mine!

You could say the same for Lancashire. Lancastrians are not interested in Barrow. They see it as being in Cumbria, which it is.

Its just a name at the end of the day. But I feel no affinity at all with those areas north of us. Personal preference I suppose.
Millom has always been in Cumberland/Cumbria but no one north of it is interested. Seems to be a black hole around the duddon estuary that neither county has much interest in. Perhaps a breakaway county is in order

As I said Cumbria is not a county. Barrow-in-Furness is in the county of Lancashire.
