Football is a matter of opinions

They had spells
We had spells
After the red card it damaged any chance we had of doing anything so yes the red card did change the game on that aspect

On the one side, I totally agree that the sending-off was a shocker of a decision and yellow was the only outcome possible for that challenge. And yes, it might well have been the thing that cost us in the end but I wouldn't like to use it a smokescreen or an excuse for the result or the second-half performance.

I find it hard to believe that Pete Wild could say we played "really, really well today" and to pin it all onto that red-card fiasco. From where I was standing, after an even first-half, we were second best by some distance in the second half and Newport could and should have been at least two up before the sending-off. Zanzala showed that he is not up to this level when through on goal and delaying too long in pulling the trigger, allowing Brough to make a great tackle (but one he shouldn't have had the time to make). The momentum was all Newport's and you could sense the goal was coming throughout that second half, even before the sending-off.

I've lost track of the number of times we've emerged in the second half this season and our levels have visibly dropped from the first 45 minutes It's happened over and over again but today was the most alarming of the lot. What's that all about? Do we have a fitness issue?

Finally, it's the first time I've seen Garner and no way would I judge him on one performance (a few nice flourishes actually, here and there, notably in the first half) but I am surprised at how deep-lying he played. I thought he was going to be up top getting us goals and assists. Clearly I've misunderstood.
100% this.

Not sure what our footballing identity supposed to be?

The manager sets the standards and if he thinks that standard is good enough, then we will continue to drop like a stone. I am unsure why he is slow to criticise the team - I'm sure they could take it and it might keep them on their toes. Maybe he feels he needs to keep their heads up, but i would prefer a gritty solid Barrow team who when they play badly, hold their hands up and admit it's not good enough. Didn't Wild say something about the team being a reflection of the wider town?

Yes we are all but safe this season, but it's worrying for the future if we have a manager who thinks this is an acceptable home performance.

They made the first substitutions that gave them a boost whilst our triple change struck me as being reactive.

Really can't we criticise? 99% of the posters on here have been through bad and good times supporting Barrow, that statement is absolutely pathetic!

Didn't damage Tranmere a while back went down to 10 men then got the winner against us.

Another late goal against us.

Well to be honest that was damn bloody awful to watch today. Not sure what PW saw different to me, but hey I’m only a fan. Red card was not a red imho. Conceding that goal in added time was a kick in the [SwearFilter] as there had been a foul leading up to the corner that wasn’t given.

Aren’t we lucky we started the season so well as currently we are no better than the bottom of the table teams.

As much as the last few weeks have fallen below standard and the style of play has changed I think some on here need to think back 12 months and assess where we really are. Imagine this season under the likes of Cooper, we are well clear and realistically fighting above where many expected. Pete wild was a breath of fresh air at the start of the year and I fully trust him to be the man to help us move forward. Who realistically puts us higher in the league at this point of the season than he has

That doesn't detract from really poor performances at home, we are conceding [SwearFilter] poor goals and are just not pressing as one ,this is a forum deal with it !
