We won by stinking the place out - hard to disagree. I do find our brand of football - effective as it is - a pretty hard watch . Not sure the pitch helps either. Still, results is results, and Telford is looking better.

Got to disagree. We've played some decent stuff recently without that little bit of luck or bit of quality at the end of it. Even last night there was some great stuff played. Last year we tried to carry on playing football and it cost us after our great start.

Agree with Big E. Lots to enjoy last night and in the 0-0 draws. Perhaps too many base views on whether we scored/won and discount the rest of the match?

The pitch is, indeed a worry on the pop side where there is a very problematic strip from the touchline up to ~5m in that has shown signs of being a problem in many games this year. Did someone once suggest that drainage may have been impaired by trenches dug for the electrical supply for the 'new' floodlights?

As for the rest of the pitch, I suspect periods of heavy rain have been the issue but I would also question the use of sprinklers before some matches (Wimbledon comes to mind) when the pitch already appeared soft.

Sadly, as the manager pointed out last night, the flares from the selfish numbskulls will likely lead to the club being fined and money that could have gone into sanding the pitch or improving the squad would then be lost to the club. Perhaps cctv will enable them to be identified and deny them the opportunity to repeat the harm caused to the club?

Everyone sees it differently of course but I don’t think we played ugly at all, nor stunk the place out. Derby games about passion and desire and we had that in abundance last night. They never had a sniff of goal. Don’t forget they came into the game on a good run and a win last night would have put them second. We got it spot on. We are a decent side but whether we have enough squad depth to get into the top seven remains to be seen but we are not far off it.

Success was the only smell emanating from Holker St last night accompanied by the taste of victory. Whilst Morecambe will have the Odeur de honte lingering around them for sometime to come.

Sometimes you grind out wins. I thought we looked very organised and played some good football throughout the game. As Scott Quigley stated, after I think the Morecombe home game in our first season back when we lost 2-1, L2 is a division of mistakes you make less mistakes and the higher up the table you go. The key therefore is a very solid defence and energetic midfield - which we have.

Was a very decent performance. I thought Morecambe were very physical, and recent results suggest they are effective.

Interesting comment by Wild, which unfortunately I can't remember exactly, but to praphrase it was something like Morecambe have been winning by being ugly, but we did it to them tonight.

He said Morecambe have been going to war with teams so last night he told the players that’s what we have to do, take it to them and go to war with them

Deserved winners on reflection of play and chances imo. Defence immense.

Watching from the comfort of my armchair (with occasional leaps into the air) I thought it was hugely entertaining; I'd be happy to watch games like that any day of the week. We really snuffed out any threat they might have presented; as I said earlier in the thread during the game our back 3 were magnificent. Second half was more of a battle but first half we played some excellent, fast-moving football with balls being laid off quickly and with purpose. There was one move in the dying embers of the first half which was sublime. To be without the likes of Proctor, Tiensia, Gotts, Worrall, Feely and, latterly, Campbell yet still put in a shift like that speaks massively of the squad. Few teams will come away with much from HS if we continue to play like that.
25 points, so half way to safety and just over one third of games played.

The team rewarded the crowd last night, and vice versa. It's the best support I've heard at HS for years. Similar to away matches. Very good effort.
