Re: Carlisle v Barrow Match Thread
Was confident going into the game that we could get a result up there but once again we’ve come away with nothing. Early days and things will hopefully settle with the side but do think we’ll struggle for goals. Easy to get sucked into the derby thing but it’s just another game and one we’ve lost today. Onto the next one.

Just watched the highlights. Definitely not a foul on Vassell but Farman seems to pull his arms back rather than block it?
Re: Carlisle v Barrow Match Thread
Yes a mistake at the back has cost us but I think Vassel is a good player. Far more concerned about the lack of teeth at the other end.

Its the way you get them a scrappy goal or a enfatic win
Last few seasons we have been short of a goal scorer and it continues and i realise we are little old Barrow

Not just on about that .Bingley Blue wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 6:03 pmAnd they’re unbeaten at home in the league this season!
The friendlies gave us a warning
We managed two magnificent wins against the might of HOB and FC united.
When we come up against a bigger team like Fylde could not hack it.
The forwards are hopeless.
I got irate when we signed Bob Ledger when last in the league two goals on his debut and that was it.
The team is a bloody disgrace
Re: Carlisle v Barrow Match Thread
It was obvious there would be no pressing as soon as you put aqua up front on his own.
The question is why didn't we set up to press?
It's worked well in other matches. This was dismal .

Re: Carlisle v Barrow Match Thread
Maybe cos carlisle mostly launch it when the defence have it. People obesess with this press word.
Re: Carlisle v Barrow Match Thread
Stockton was brought in last season because the strikers at the time were not good enough. We’ve still got the same strikers and………they still ain’t good enough. I know Newby is not a striker but would be interested to know when he last scored. Maybe Methuselah could tell us, if he’s old enough.
Re: Carlisle v Barrow Match Thread
Firstly the disallowed goal was definitely onside played it through a number of times now. I don't really care how badly we may have played if we'd have got the draw feelings would be rather different on this site. Small margins.
Secondly, maybe its time to start Dallas now surely that's we we've brought him in on loan. If we are playing a 4-2-3-1 you have to have a target man up top. Garner can't really play in that role & like others I feel Acquah is more effective coming on later in games.
Thirdly, usual stupid comment made on here I was fully expecting when viewing the Crewe defeat today suggesting we really must be rubbish if we could only just beat them 1-0 last week. Anybody who's played or watched football at any level knows every game is different.
Fourthly, regarding Newby -he's a nice player but I'm fairly certain he did not score for us last season. Think Kouyate needs a run in the team as I think he will be more aggressive than Newby.
Lastly, I really want to see a more consistent (or consistently good) Gotts this season - over the seasons which just get glimpses of what could be. He has the ability to play both as a No 8 or a No10. He would certainly take the weight off Spence and Campbell to perform at a high level every week to compensate for his inconsistencies as today Campbell wasn't quite at his best and others, like Gotts, need to step up when this happens.
