Ive been trying to get into my account so apologies it's taken me awhile to reply to this thread. I appreciate everybody that has shown me support, I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been difficult reading some of the comments, not just on this thread but across this forum about me and my role as stadium announcer. Whoever was chosen to succeed Darren was always going to have a tough job, and I would like to think that I am doing well in overcoming the challenge, one of the biggest pieces of advice Darren gave me was that I'm not going to be able to please everybody, I've learnt this to be true. However, I am trying my best to provide a decent service for all supporters. Those that stand near the press box will know that Mike often brings mascots to meet me and see how my role works, I've also been cracking on with my new initiative "local music showcase", nobody can say I'm not trying to make the role my own. I've tried to make myself completely visible to all supporters and I'm always open to feedback. However, what I don't appreciate is people coming onto this forum to be nasty. Nige you say I've been told on multiple occasions to not do whatever it is you think i'm doing. That's great if you have an issue with anything I'm doing, by all means catch me in the press box, preferably before I'm too busy. Or if you feel I'm not taking on your feedback, contact Alicia or Rickie at the club and they will find time to discuss it with me. I have really enjoyed my time in the role so far, however, that doesn't mean I won't step aside at the end of the season if I don't feel I have the backing of the club and supporters. I'm still a very young man who, yes, probably still has much to learn about Barrow AFC. I've committed myself some would say too much to this role this year, I've turned down opportunities in my professional career to ensure that I could do all of the home games as to not miss out on practice and opportunities to keep getting better and growing into the role. Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far and I'll continue trying my best, as I'm sure that is all that can be asked of me. Come on the bluebirds
Keep doing what you're doing pal, there are definitely more people who want you to succeed than not

From my own personal prospective I think that you have improved massively since the start of the season to a point where you just sound part of match day now. Doing a great job and don’t let negative comments put you off.

Re: Q & A with the Board and Management
Brilliant reply Bailey and Don't listen or read disrespectful comments on the forum, like a lot of work people do for the Club some we always criticise but will not contribute themselves, it's like the players who become scapegoats with constant personal remarks and it's totally out of order, keep up the good work and hopefully you'll be around for many years, all the best Bailey.

I stand on the popular side and have done for years.I don,t think you are doing too bad a job.Like you have said you are trying your best and some things people will like and others they won,t.That,s the nature of the game.
Take no notice of the people criticising you they probably would never have offered to be the announcer themselves.Anyone can criticise but is a lot harder to do what you are doing.Ignore them and carry on with what you are doing.Keep up the good work.

Crack on Bailey. As someone who did it appalingly once when we played the Wukkies pr season, it's not as easy as folk think.
And putting yourself up there to do anything like that takes guts.
I wouldn't pay the slightest attention to the havering on here.

Bailey
You have improved tremendously over the season, remember Rome wasn’t built in a day.
The skills and techniques required for your role will take time to develop and mature.
You’ve got some experienced guys in the press box with you they’ll no doubt be only too eager to tell you about when they first started and the hurdles they overcame to become competent and professional.
Keep asking for feedback (no pun intended) and remember practice makes perfect.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes we’ve all done them, just crack on buddy you’re doing ok.
He’s one of own, he’s one of our own, Bailey Bailey you're one of our own.

Re: Q & A with the Board and Management
In some respects a good announcer is like a good referee. You take for granted what they do. You don’t notice them.
Living elsewhere my visits to HS whilst pretty frequent are irregular. The best compliment I can give is that other than the change in the voice I’ve not been aware of any major differences in quality over the season.
Keep doing what you are doing. Subjecting yourself to the scrutiny of this forum can be a very chastening experience.
