Don’t actually have a major issue with Carlisle themselves - it’s hardly a local rivalry (despite us constantly being told it is) and we’ve spent must of the past 50 years or so a couple of leagues apart. Just don’t really care enough one way or the other. However, as some have said on here, the issue is more with what l we have had to endure - for decades - from the Carlisle-based end of Radio Cumbria team. For those of us live away from Barrow and rely - certainly in these more recent digital times - on RC, it’s deeply annoying that virtually every show is based up there and revolves around that one team to the detriment of another in the same league. It’ll be interesting to see - if Carlisle do drop - if that all changes “…the home of Barrow and Carlisle…” rather than the other way ‘round, the lead presenters broadcasting from the Barrow game, Carlisle fans having to “…retune to our AM frequency…” and so on. They may seem like little things on their own but 30 odd years of it do start to grate a tad!

Anyway, we can’t control what happens to other teams- what will be will be - but we can have the best possible finish; 6-7 points from the last 3 would be nice, then onward to next season.

Nicely put. But I suspect the “bulk of the listening public is in Carlisle” argument would still be used. Wrexham would have got more coverage than Shrewsbury when the later were two divisions above them.

I don’t think it will change at all. It’s a numbers game and ours are smaller. James Cartridge is pretty insufferable at the best of times , in my view. And, he’ll continue to be so whether in the National League or L2. If they stay up he will be unbearable!!

Don't buy in to the theory we'll take it easy. Evidence against it is us beating Walsall and whing
potentially stopping his best mate getting promoted. I don't expect a tasty game though with them needing the points

No I remember when in the league .
We had nothing to play for and Shrewsbury needed to win to get promoted.
I think we won 2-0
We should play to the best of our ability irrespective of the fact I would prefer Carlisle to go down.
If they go down they will have the resources to be promoted back not sure Accrington will.

Well we didn't lose but it was a pretty flat end of season performance. Think it’s the first season we’ve had nothing to play for, we've either been down there scrapping or trying to break into playoffs.

The “not allowed to say anything slightly negative” brigade will be along soon but it wasn’t a good deal; it just means folk who were going to both games anyway get a cheaper ticket on Saturday. It wasn’t the sort of deal that incentivises the floating fan to decide to go

The “not allowed to say anything slightly negative” brigade will be along soon but it wasn’t a good deal; it just means folk who were going to both games anyway get a cheaper ticket on Saturday. It wasn’t the sort of deal that incentivises the floating fan to decide to go

To be fair, it's a hard sell when there is literally nothing to play for and the expectation of excitement is minimal. No need to fret about crowds or performances at this point.
