Josh Gordon

Post by Sea Dog Sam » Mon May 12, 2025 6:11 pm

I watched the Chesterfield v Walsall fixture yesterday and was amazed to see Josh Gordon come on as substitute in the last 10 mins.

I'm sure he played for The Saddlers before playing for us. Couldn't believe that they'd taken him back! As I watched I thought how could such a sh*t poor striker be soon, possibly, be playing Div 1 Football? :o

I'm quite sure he didn't even touch the ball whilst he was on the field - simply running around - as he did for us - like a headless chicken. Probably the worst striker to ever wear the Barrow shirt. Even worse than Dom Telford. However, I'm sure somebody on here will point out that he once scored 15 goals for us. Fair enough. But that was his career best at any club. He did nothing before and has done nothing since. Gordon and Telford + others (take your pick) all being prime examples of the absolute S**T we've had to put up with for the last few seasons. All of them underlining the importance of securing a decent striker for next season - if we are to remain in this league.

Wow … and I thought he had a great season for us before he got injured. I think you will find that he has been injured at Walsall most of this season. Didn’t he go to Burton after us?

No No Josh Gordon was great for us. The worst striker ever to wear a Barrow shirt was Graham Gill back in our non league days.

Came on at Peterborough in the EFL Trophy and scored more or less straight away. He's not been a regular at Walsall or Burton. When Posh played Burton the season before last both he and a certain Cole Stockton came on as subs and failed to score.

I think it’s fair to say that we got the best out of Josh. His problem when he went back to Walsall was that Walsall had borrowed Nathan Lowe from Stoke and Josh couldn’t get a look in.

Ironically since Lowe went back Josh has been one of the few remaining strikers left fit and available. But he’s a bit of a joke either way Saddlers fans. Which is a bit sad.

Josh Gordon was class for us. Fond memories of him scoring in front of the travelling support at Walsall.

Most loan contracts finish on 30th June and the player goes back to his home club, unless arrangements have been made for a longer loan. I think all of our loan players are returning to their parent club.

He isn't he signed a two year deal with Walsall at the beginning of this season.

Josh Gordon re-joined Walsall on loan from Burton Albion for the remainder of the 2023/24 season in January 2024. He had previously played for Walsall from 2018 to 2021, and spent time with Barrow and Burton Albion before returning on loan. He later signed a two-year permanent contract with Walsall in July 2024.
