Re: Stephen Vaughan
Don’t agree with the celebration , wouldn’t have the club we have today or the stand without him.
Rest in Peace, hopefully he will get the stand re named after him

Re: Stephen Vaughan
I will not celebrate anyone’s death. But I won’t criticise anybody that chose to do so in this case. I’m sure that he must have had his good points but he nearly killed not one but two football clubs.
I can’t help thinking that if Vaughan was considered a fit and proper person to own a football club then my dog would probably have passed it too.
Despite the passage of time his methods can still be considered alongside those of Whittingham at Morecambe today and it is therefore perhaps fitting that his passing coincides with this latest manifestation of outrageous mismanagement. Just to remind us how much damage one man can do to a cherished institution. It never changes.

Re: Stephen Vaughan
Good wind up BarrowLad71, yes let's forget our club legend Brian Arrowsmith and rename the stand after a dodgy Scouse criminal.

Re: Stephen Vaughan
I maintain we should have named the old Popular Side bogs in his honour.BarrowLad71 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:02 pm Rest in Peace, hopefully he will get the stand re named after him
Good riddance.
Re: Stephen Vaughan
Echoed on 'Deva Chat' the Chester forum with sentiments far more cutting and abusive, Apparently died in his parked car where he'd lain undiscovered for up to three hours. Fitting.
Re: Stephen Vaughan
Like Pontius Pilate we washed our hands of him
Stephen who?
Stephen who?

Like him or not the club needed him at the time or we would have gone under.

Re: Stephen Vaughan
There is an element of truth in that but what enfolded during his tenure resulted in us nearly losing our very existence. He went on to do similar to Chester and Widnes vikingsCromwell58 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 11:07 am Like him or not the club needed him at the time or we would have gone under.
Re: Stephen Vaughan
I am possibly being naive here and taking the bait of a wind-up offered by BarrowLad71.
Like Suffolk Blue I will not now, or ever, celebrate anybody's death but, like Green Armour, I would ask whether BarrowLad71 knows who Brian Arrowsmith is and his role in the club's history. If not, BarrowLad71, then you should learn and then you'll know why the stand is named after him. I remember on this very forum many years ago, before the stand had been named and when we were under the ownership of Paul Casson, that I said it could only be named after Brian. And that viewpoint certainly remains the same now. Yes, of course there have been a number of great servants of our club but because what Brian did was unique then to me the stand had to be named after him. Totally absurd and ignorant to suggest it be re-named after Stephen Vaughan.
As I say, I think I have taken the bait here and it must be a wind-up.

Re: Stephen Vaughan
You mean a stand that was quite likely paid for with the proceeds of a 'business' almost certainly responsible for the deaths of many young people. A 'business' model still being operated by his son not only in this country and Malta but possibly in Wales with a small club Flint Mountain who he has apparently just invested in.BarrowLad71 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:02 pm Don’t agree with the celebration , wouldn’t have the club we have today or the stand without him.

Fascinated to know how many people are still in the ‘like him’ column.Cromwell58 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 11:07 am Like him or not the club needed him at the time or we would have gone under.
Very much a ‘not’ over here, if we’re tallying up.
