Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
Whoever’s to blame we are very boring and predictable to watch at the moment. It’s bound to effect the gates unfortunately.
Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
It’s been a big blow loosing Rob Kelly, I believe he really was making a big difference and results confirmed that.
Andy Whing was a better man with Rob. Could we not have made more of an effort to keep him at Barrow ?
I get the impression that the players do their own thing and AW can neither motivate them nor set up the formations anyway. I do think Newby is playing better than ever, but oh for a genuine striker. AW wants to kick a few asses.

Already has, past few games have all been around 2700-2800 (excluding away fans), 1/2 or so seasons ago we were pulling in about 3000-4000 depending on how big the game was, feels like everything has gone stale and we are in limbo about where our fortunes on and off the pitch lie.AugustusCorpa wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 3:16 pm Whoever’s to blame we are very boring and predictable to watch at the moment. Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
Given Rob Kelly’s age his obvious close relationship with Liam Richardson then add to that the set up at Reading training ground wise ( don’t forget not to long ago they were in the premiership) we were simply not in a position to compete with what Reading hasmanxy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 3:22 pm It’s been a big blow loosing Rob Kelly, I believe he really was making a big difference and results confirmed that.

Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
It’s an unfortunate thing for us Supporters at the moment. We want success and we want entertainment too. If it’s gone stale, as it is at the moment, we need some encouragement from somewhere, or else we will fall away.
Why can’t we get something from the board that will get us excited about. There must be something that is in the pipe line. They are shelling out their own money and if gates are falling, then it’s in their interest to turn that around.
It’s about time we had something to cheer us up and look forward to and to bring the supporters back.

If everyone is saying bring back Kelly or whoever surely that says it all ,if our club are seeking someone to help Whing out they're admitting the guy's not up to it ,people on here burying their heads in the sand and saying oh it might change round, really how there's no logical reason to think this way ,we need 30 more points to be safe ,on the basis of the garbage we've seen so far does anyone hand on heart honestly believe this!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 3:33 pmGiven Rob Kelly’s age his obvious close relationship with Liam Richardson then add to that the set up at Reading training ground wise ( don’t forget not to long ago they were in the premiership) we were simply not in a position to compete with what Reading hasmanxy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 3:22 pm It’s been a big blow loosing Rob Kelly, I believe he really was making a big difference and results confirmed that.

Whing playing a system that we haven't got the player's for ,signed more Wingers than 2 clubs would need, centre forwards with a track record that nobody in their right mind would sign but we did !, signing player's with bad injuries in their past and people wondering why we're down the bottom of the league, this strategy is insane, surely if our budget was so low ,we should have gone for player's who at least be relied on playing, so what's going to happen? to stay up we'll have to sign more player's which makes a joke of restricting the budget in the first place, if we do get out of this we're still stuck ( next season) with at least 7 player's who aren't ( and never should have been signed ) here next season!

'A fan' having a pop at Whing, it seems.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Sat Nov 22, 2025 6:15 pm I just picked it up from bluebirds earlier post:
Feels like the end of the wild era somehow. Manager having a pop at the fans and no real answer to our problems

Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
Who said the budget was restricted? By the chairman’s admission most other clubs upped their budgets putting them above ours as ours is exactly the same as last season.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:24 pm

Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
The recruitment is budget-dependant. Not hard to imagine that our budget must be close to or beyond the maximum we can afford. How many players in L2 this season who played non-league are pulling up trees? And how many of them could we have afforded?Bigfathoss wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 12:29 pm You're not going to get a symphony out of recorders, tambourines and a triangle. If the players are substandard then it is 100% only down to recruitment. They ARE substandard in the main, but no manager is going to get consistent league performances out of non-league players.

So it's by definition restricted!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:32 pmWho said the budget was restricted? By the chairman’s admission most other clubs upped their budgets putting them above ours as ours is exactly the same as last season.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:24 pm

Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
Can’t argue against any of that Nige, but I just don’t think he can pick a team anyway, and the players don’t care.
We had a clear out last summer, and reloaded with poor players, and glaringly no striker unforgivable really. If only we could swop 6 flops for 1 genuine finisher. Oh well, maybe we could get big Sam in.

Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
The game reminded me of many of the games under Wild where opponents confidently passed the ball sideways in their own half and Barrow hit them at weak moments, succeeding with a minority of possession. In the first three months of 2022-3, for example, six of the ten wins came with 40% possession or less.
The difference on Saturday was that it was Barrow who confidently passed the ball sideways in their own half and their opponents hit us on breaks when Barrow had failed to take the chances that they did create.
Do we credit Cambridge on their game plan, if such existed, bemoan our inability to take chances or combine the two?
For those anxious about finding two worse teams, a glance at the table will offer a choice of seven. I am more concerned about a mid-table gap that might develop above us.

Re: Barrow v Cambridge United, match thread
AW said in his post match that he thought the stadium was flat before kick off, IMO theres 2 reason for that.
1. Most people already know what drivel we are going to get served up.
2. That god awful shite song we walk out to, made even worse now weve put our own 'spin' on it and the songs pre that. Get something on to get the crowd pump up and ready to go.
You go to decent away ground and they got the atmosphere buzzin b4 kick off

I can't argue with any of that logic, especially the 30 points bit - which says to me it's goodnight saigon, unless miracles really do occur.
