Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
Whichever league we are in next season, I would be happy enough if every player on our roster this year had moved on to other suckers.

Can not knock josh or danny but the rest need to look at themselves, keeper was not at fault either.
Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
Don’t usually listen to radio on way home but did today. Can Craig Rutherford please sit down with our management/owners and talk to them. He was absolutely spot on. Recruitment not good enough, and as bad as defending was at the end, if you don’t take your chances going forward then you are liable another end. Such a lack of fire power up front, nobody takes a shot want to walk it in, and not strong enough.
Called it today that they would score at the death, was in the cards. As also said in radio think we were playing for a point from the off.

We’ve gone for the likes of John Rooney and Quigley with worldly goals, to both teams not having a shot on target for 112 minutes, rinse and repeat for months, fans can (and will) check out, Barrow shipyard wages allow a lot of footy fans to travel to the premier league teams, there’s no pull at all at the moment to support the local team, no wonder attendances have dropped so far .

Weak mentality..weak backbone.
..atrocious signings. Wont blame players. Not their fault if they aint good enough. Terrible recruitment. Big questions need answering.about recruitment..

Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
That was terrible two really bad sides and we got what we deserved we didn’t have a real go and we played so defensively, Gillingham were shit but we were worse than shit
Can’t see us stopping up now
Sadly this team don’t have it in them. Feel sorry for the owners they have spent a lot of money but made a lot of mistakes. I do feel we have good players individually but collectively really poor
I don’t know where we go to from here.

Not sure about the "cant blame the players" line. Yes they're not much cop but heart and desire go a long way and at the end of the day they're all 'pros'. 4 managers now and still dog doo. Its not the manager is it, whats the common denominator.... the players.
2-0 up and lose 3-2in the dying minutes last week, chuck away a point in the 13th min of injury time today, that's just mentality etc.

Sell the club, get some football brains in there cause with this board (very thankful for what they've done and the money they put in, but its clear they've taken us as far as they can) and recruitment because we will double drop to never return.
Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
I’m just numb after that ending. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so low leaving the ground.
We have the look of a side destined for the drop. We don’t create anything in front of goal, so easy to defend against.
Malcolm probably out for the season. Looked a bad one.

Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
The same has been happening for weeks & months this team do not have the fight and commitment required to stay in the league.
The support has dropped off we know that but for there to be 2,000+ in there today and the backing vocally from the support deserved so much more. I’m sure most the players don’t really care , they’ll move on pick up another 70k a year for someone else.
Will give FairPlay to Josh Gordon who came over to the Holker St End at full time , he basically said the team need to keep working till the final whistle… something we’ve not done all season so they won’t start now I thought.
Sadly it’s another nail in the coffin , we are a broken side. National league with a fresh squad , new management & new staff upstairs is probably for the best.
We’ll win it anyways

Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
The last 5 minutes summed up our season, Gillingham wanted to win it, we didn't want to lose it, I cannot believe we couldn't defend a corner like we did totally crap defending.
Dino has to roll the dice now back 4 play Freddie Anderson there if you have to ,Barkhuizen looks dangerous when he actually pushes forward, we didn't create one decent chance for our forwards, Gordon to his credit tried but him and Rose are wasting their time!
Our board are responsible for this after last season they didn't learn anything now as a club if we go down we're finished !

Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
We were absolutely rubbish. The Gillingham goalkeeper had nothing to do! Every time they got a throw in, free kick or corner, we had EVERY SINGLE PLAYER back in our own area! Such a scared defeatist tactic. When Stanway collected the ball, there was no one up to pass it to. Zero chance of any breaks or counter attacks. Way too defensive. It’s a really sickening way to play.
These tactics against a team low on confidence and form. 5 defeats in their last 6! We should’ve got at them. Instead we played like a team terrified of losing. Which is EXACTLY what we did anyway.
FFS, we are heading back to non league at this rate. If we are to go down, at LEAST go down FIGHTING!

A 12 minute rest in the middle of the 2nd half and we still can't see a game out.
These players are useless and won't survive the national league. They should all be sacked at the end of the season and let Dino build from scratch.

Re: Barrow v Gillingham match thread
Most teams I’ve seen at holker street leave players back when defending a corner we never seem to do that, I stand to be corrected. Having someone further up the field for a quick throw out from Stanway just changes it up a bit.
If we go down, sorry but I think it will be a long time before we go back up again, if we do.
