So who are members of the Board now?

A search to answer my question reveals:

Paul Hornby – Chairman and Co-Owner
Kristian Wilkes – Owner/Director
Frazer Stewart – Director (Bluebirds Trust Representative)

No surprise imo. If you listen to the Barrow social it was said on there the board was split when Whing was sacked and mumblings about Shearer and Hornby falling out were doing the rounds at the final home game

Cant blame Tony Shearer for wanting to take a step back and over the moon he has kept his majority shareholding.
Thanks for all your hard work Tony . Enjoy your retirement 👍

It’s nothing to do with fallings out

Paul Hornby touched on this with my chat with him. Tony has been struggling with his health in recent weeks so was looking to take a step back due to that also his son has recently started a new business and he’s wanting to focus his attention on supporting him with that

But how does it leave us financially? Having over 40% shareholding his financial input was considerably more than the others so will that continue ?

He’s maintained his % in the club so until we find someone to take that over be it new investment or current board members increasing their stake he will continue to be a shareholder he’s just stepping away from active board duties so not sitting in the meetings or making the decisions

Tony has been a vital component in the running of the club and thoroughly deserves to enjoy valuable time with his family in retirement.
Still it will be very interesting as to see how we progress without his directorship. And important more than ever that the club looks to find more investment through willing investors. that’s why it’s vital at this time he keeps his stake in the club and thankfully he has, and a very generous thing to do.
Thank you for all that you have done for the club Tony.
👏

Well that is a major blow but not totally unexpected. The BoDs were seeking further investment last term probably with this on the horizon. Not good news for the future of the club but hat’s off to Tony - he certainly went above and beyond for his home town team.

When it comes to Barrow AFC there is Never Ever smoke without fire, we will just have to wait for the incident report from the fire department.

Fair play to him keeping his investment, would dread to think how much money he’s spunked away already on us

As the club lose money every season I wonder if Tony Shearer will continue to help cover those losses or is he just keeping his shares and the other shareholders will have to increase their funding ?

It is a major blow imo He has over 40% stake in the club. Where does this leave us financially? Does it affect the clubs budget for next season, The owners pumped £800k into the club last July then from all accounts increased the playing budget In January. Will he be there to help out financially again should it be required during the season. ?
The statement was great until it got to the last bit now I’m concerned

Tough being on the other side of the water and know what’s going on day in and day out. If you don’t know Tony he’s a Great person and was a decent footballer himself in his youth. Thanks Toe for what you’ve put in and it won’t be an easy task to find a replacement investor as understanding as him.!
