They can dress things up any way they want to put a positive spin but losing Tony Shearers financial input is a blow and will restrict us. Bar the odd exception its been one out one in during the close season and since Murray said he wanted another two in I think Stanway has been the only one to go.
Paul Hornby said they have sufficient funds for the next two to three years. But anyone wishing to invest in the club would be more than welcome. Tony’s investment is still there it will be diluted in the fullness of time though 40% owners don’t come along everyday of course Tony will be greatly missed.
Sufficient funds for what? I have no doubt that this year we have a competitive budget to mount a challenge but thereafter without new investment the budget will probably reduce. Shearer had 40% shareholding so he covered 40% of the operating losses.

Sufficient funds to mount a serious challenge at the league this season and next.

Nige I wouldn’t be too worried about Adam Murray finding the right players, he seems to have a list of players that would benefit the club and contingencies for players who he reckons might get snapped up along the way.

To go to the next level we really need additional income and that has not changed since we got promoted to the EFL. PH is not going to set hares running but we need to get out of this league next season or the conversation will revert back to the days when a good Trophy run and reaching the first round of the FA cup was deemed as good as it gets

And that was my point before Jonty, if we don't even make the playoffs this season the attendances will fall off and we'll end up just an average National League team !

Murray seems competent enough and the influx of players seems good.
We want to win the league

Yep absolutely fully aware. I think it’s next season as the most realistic chance, it’s going to be massively difficult but
I think we have a good squad. To go up we will need someone to get 20+ goals and we have not been anywhere near that in 6 seasons. I do wonder where the goals will come from. We also need the slice of luck when the ball hits the post and goes in for us and hits the post and goes out at the other end. Excited for the season but the aim has to be promotion.

Oh, and Paul Hornby responded positively to my request that we never walk out to that godawful song again. He said it was gone and there would be a new song, but he didn't say what it would be.
Hopefully the music guy also realises the majority of the people in the stasium from 60 minutes to 10 minutes before kick-off are aged between 40 and 70 so will throw his playlist in the bin.

Theres no doubt its a dramatic piece of music, but whether it pumps up the crowd when its blasting out on a Tuesday night remains to be seen.

No piece of “walk out” music will ever get the crowd going in the same way as when the team Captain used to lead the run out from the tunnel and boot the ball out onto the pitch. Forget all this line up and handshake nonsense, save that to the end.
