My thought are we may have to show a little patience and tolerance for the first month to six weeks, but after that hopefully everything starts to click into place on the field and we start to hit overdrive mid December.

Another thought, (and l have no evidence to back this up) we seemed to average attendances of 1500+ in our previous non-league residency yet from what I am hearing we have just about reached that in season ticket sales already*. So there will be a buzz about the place which will hopefully galvanise our new squad to compete vigorously and ultimately achieve our objective - the playoffs. If not sack the lot.

*Anyone got any current sales figures on this?

We need to be winning and playing good stuff to keep the turnstiles clicking. It’s our main income stream and I really hope this team can get the same backing we enjoyed last time around before Covid curtailed the season. We had a few 3k crowds when top of the league. Away followings will be down, but we can make up the numbers with our fans if we are doing well

I'd say looking back at our team of 19-20 we don't have a John Rooney type player in our team, someone who can get on the ball and pick a pass, chip in with a few goals. Whilst our midfield looks a lot more aggressive and combative than last season, not hard - I don't see much creativity in there. Not at all convinced by Jack Earing after a year here I can't tell still what sort of player he is or what he brings. Murray had a go at him one game for not showing for the ball as did Rutherford last season, needs to get involved more and contribute. I'd say that's an area we need to improve in and in that way a shame that McCann didn't stay really. Fletcher less so.

Upfront I wouldn't be expecting too much of Cameron but he may prove us wrong but we need something else up there. Someone with a bit of pace and who can stretch defences, another option. Think of Dior Angus a few years ago he wasn't the best finisher but had the pace to cause problems and give us an outlet.

Aside from that I think we have a decent squad but the first 9-10 matches will give us an idea. If we lose at Hartlepool we're not the worst team in the world and equally if we win we're not walking the division. I just want to see a competitive team, once that digs in and doesn't cave like last season, that entertains the fans and has a go, none of this sitting back waiting for things to happen. No being overcautious to some of the dross that we will play. We are a big club and a scalp for teams having just come down from the league, lets play in a way that shows that and have a bit of belief and confidence. If we do that top seven is the minimum we should be looking for and play offs. It wont happen overnight but if the signs are there as they are so far, then I'll be happy.

After the last two seasons we just want to see a team that can put a few results together and looks like a team, something we've not had in some time now and the last two seasons for the most part were pretty torturous.

All because the player actually wanted to play something that resembled ‘football’ and not the shite our manager was happy to serve up.

If you're talking about Booty, he did nothing while playing for us and, having watched a couple of the Boreham Wood play-off matches he was completely outshone by Tom White who very few on here rated by the time he left.

If you're talking about Booty, he did nothing while playing for us and, having watched a couple of the Boreham Wood play-off matches he was completely outshone by Tom White who very few on here rated by the time he left.

White was a grafter and did a lot of unnoticed work in midfield. When we let him go I think most agreed that to push on in league 2 we needed better. Unfortunately the players that we brought in weren’t better and we ended up going backwards. In national league he’s probably the best at what he does, breaks things up is a real nuisance, is a ratter and wins and commits a few fouls.

Had promise but never really lived up to his potential and hype. Probably another that sounded a player with the double barrel name but flattered to deceive. Think Ryan Zico Black.

It all sounds very promising but we do need to get these two players in that Murray keeps referring to; hopefully one is a striker with some pace and still think we need a creative midfielder who can chip in with both goals and assists

Agreed plus White was overshadowed by 2 very good midfielders in Spence and Campbell. However, White was far superior to Booty and still is at Boreham Wood where he is captain and dictates the play.

From what I've seen in the 3 pre season games I've seen id say we look physically stronger have more about us and wont be bullied easily liked the forward play but would like to see another forward brought in and a creative player im hoping for play offs and to enjoy the football again winning more than we lose hopefully I think crowds will be around 1800 to 2000 ish this season obviously not many away followings apart from a couple of bigger sides take away support what was our home average around 2300 ish maybe last season

Looking at the 9 current new signings only 4 played in the National League last Season, Crankshaw & Marriot at Altrincham, Reid at Hartlepool and Digie at Tamworth, plus we still have players who were poor last season, don`t need to name them, so if this current squad can be top 10 it would be a decent season.
