Barrow v Yeovil Town match thread
Re: Barrow v Yeovil Town match thread
Best player on the pitch by a country mile, Number 3 for Yeovil.
Re: Barrow v Yeovil Town match thread
I thought the second goal we conceded was very worrying and inexcusable. To allow a free header from a freekick which came in straight rather than from an angle is something you might see in a Sunday league game, not something I would expect from full-time professionals. I hate to say it, but defending like that isn't even National League standard. If that level of defending continues then a relegation battle is a distinct possibility. Sorry to be pessimistic.Olderbarrowfan79+ wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:48 pm I dont want to panic yet only 4 games in we haven't been battered but struggle to score yeh its a new side virtually but so are many sides so no excuse really I still think were suffering a hangover over from relegation and have that losing mentality I dont know what we can do but we didn't deserve to lose last night but we did which is worrying, we need a win from somewhere to boost confidence, no easy games in the national league i think this season we can expect mid table and hopefully not a drawn into a relegation scrap but unsure from what I've seen. Its disappointing dropping from efl only to be near bottom of national league though, i thought we would be on 6/7 points really after the 4 games

So we just need to change the half of the side that is crap!
Easier said than done with existing contracts and presumably lack of new money getting in the way!

Probably because they might have a different set up to us , might be wrong but it looks like Murray is doing it all!HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 9:34 amJust looking through Fridays results and a young loanee for Fylde got two goals: how do other clubs always manage to find these decent young loan strikers and we can’tbluessupporter wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 9:12 am

One worry is that at kidderminster Murray used 35 players surely this was a red flag to our board because with our finances we have more or less got to get these signings right!, a lot have come from National League North so you're taking a chance straight away time will tell but it looks scatter gun at the moment!

Decent interview with Murray on YouTube pre Kidderminster, jokingly grimaced/cringed when the interviewer mentioned there’s 42 games left and he’s not even experienced the barrovian 50 + MPH Irish Sea winter wind yet, in the months to come.
He does come across as someone who tries to find the
Positive in things, which is a plus.

It was a decent interview. Can’t fault the preparation for Monday with Murray saying they stayed over on Friday as part of the recovery plan for KidderminsterBombadel wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 2:36 pm Decent interview with Murray on YouTube pre Kidderminster, jokingly grimaced/cringed when the interviewer mentioned there’s 42 games left and he’s not even experienced the barrovian 50 + MPH Irish Sea winter wind yet, in the months to come.

We only used 2 less players, had umpteen managers and got relegated.blue nige wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 10:12 amProbably because they might have a different set up to us , might be wrong but it looks like Murray is doing it all!HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 9:34 am

At least his 35 players ended in a promotion.

Generally from National League level down the turnover of players at a club per season is greater than EFL2 teams and a lot has to do with not coming under the same transfer window restrictions.blue nige wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 10:12 amProbably because they might have a different set up to us , might be wrong but it looks like Murray is doing it all!HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 9:34 am

Read what I wrote I was talking about our finances I don’t need a lecture from anyone about the player turnover in the National League I haven't just started supporting the club!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 7:02 pmGenerally from National League level down the turnover of players at a club per season is greater than EFL2 teams and a lot has to do with not coming under the same transfer window restrictions.blue nige wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 10:12 am

Re: Barrow v Yeovil Town match thread
I read what you wrote. I am simply saying that in the National League you can loan EFL players even after the EFL window shuts Chris Conn Clarke at Carlisle from Peterborough being a case in point. If they don't work out you can send them back look Katia when we lined him out he was sent back twice once from Spennymoor then. from Warrington. It's probably the reason why Murray used so many players last season and it took him until December to get the squad together he wanted. He may have used 35 players but I highly doubt they had all 35 on the books at once.blue nige wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 7:12 pmRead what I wrote I was talking about our finances I don’t need a lecture from anyone about the player turnover in the National League I haven't just started supporting the club!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 7:02 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows where that interview with AM took place? Normally when you see him interviewed it's against a blue background at the training ground.Bombadel wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 2:36 pm Decent interview with Murray on YouTube pre Kidderminster, jokingly grimaced/cringed when the interviewer mentioned there’s 42 games left and he’s not even experienced the barrovian 50 + MPH Irish Sea winter wind yet, in the months to come.
