Some things the manager does not do

Post by JayBee » Sat Sep 12, 2026 6:20 pm

:sentoff: We have never seen Barrow doing a set play, Worthing did 3 today simple ones but Set pieces have we not got a set piece official.also when is he going to stop this high press nonsense when we are in front he cost us the game today some managers would lose their job for this nonsense he is giving us.🙀👎

Assistant Andy Taylor is the set piece coach. I know it’s difficult to believe after what we have seen but when Murray and Taylor were manager and assistant at Fylde they had the best record in there respective league for goals from set pieces

Would rather have the high press and try to win games by simply scoring more goals than getting a one nill advantage and sitting back defending for the rest of the game that's for sure.

Whatever manager manages at barrow, the snipers are always out. Is it just a barrow thing? Do we constantly just look to seek every [SwearFilter] negative rather than focusing what's actually good?

You can be sure that if we had sat back and then drawn or lost, the same people would be complaining. I was at the match and, as others have said, the wind was a big factor. It worked in our favour in the first half and their’s in the second. That wouldn’t have been obvious on TV. As much as I think Mikey Lane was the one player who might have scored from near the half way line if he hadn’t been fouled, I think the wind might have held it up. Probably a red card, but I understand why the ref went for yellow.
Two positives from yesterday - Mikey Lane was class in the way he took his goals. Secondly, a great away crowd for Barrow, the usual mixture of exiles and the bus load (a great effort by them).
One negative - we are going to regret some of these silly yellows in a few weeks time. MJ in particular just needs to concentrate on the ball and marking someone properly. He is a good player, but that side of his game lets him down (especially as captain).

12 yellows in the last two games tells a story with the one for Smith yesterday picked up whilst sat on the bench
Our reputation with officials won’t be positive with stats like that. You can argue you all you want about wether some were warranted or not but it won’t change anything.

I think Williams is finding this league tough he likes to have time on the ball but most teams flood the midfield area .

It’s like ping pong with players playing as though the balls a hot potato. Very little composure and very rarely are 3-4 passes strung together
