The Tomahawk Kid wrote:I realise that this is a little off the main point of this topic, however, a friend of mine recently enquired about the job specs and salary of the job currently advertised on the club's official website (the advert asks any prospective applicants to email for futher info). Okay; not a considerable length of time one might think? However, the deadline for applications was ONE DAY after he received the aforementioned email! (the deadline has now been put back).

With regard to the main thrust of this topic and the club's business acumen - it does make you wonder!...
Its unfortunately just another example. :(

Although you did say BB90 was a 'decent' poster so i guess that adds up.
Brilliant, so because someone thinks a poster talks more sense than your friend, that in your world "adds up" to them being boring? I'll let you two self implode & wallow in all the negativity and skip anything to do with this thread from now on.....I suppose it'll all end up the same on another topic though.
For the record i don't know a former member of this forum, only from what he posts on here. The majority of which i agree with.

Look boring thread now - the club are crap commercially and cant communicate with fans. Most of us agree (except the ones with splinters in their backsides and afraid to speak out) End of thread.

After reading this thread with interest I feel the need to comment with a personal experience connected with the commercial side of the club, not to cause further disagreements but to raise further awareness of the unnecessary detachment the club unfortunately seems to be having at present with its fans.

I have been following Barrow AFC for 20 years now since a kid, despite being based in Salford I still attend as many games as possible.

In the pre season last year I approached the club by email with the aim of discussing a 5 figure annual marketing budget I had available to spend through my company in the offshore wind industry, unfortunately I received no reply. I then got involved in the clubs ground maintenance program which ultimately resulted in both parties benefiting.

A few weeks ago with a larger marketing budget for this year I attempted to call the club numerous times, the one time I managed to get through to the club shop I was told to ‘email the club with the details’…needless to say Salford City reds super league club have now provided a great advertising deal which will now benefit my business this year.

As we enter a probable successful period on the field the bizarre ever increasing rapport between club and fan which has seemed to have developed through consistently inadequate commercial activities and transparency issues needs to be bridged rapidly so that the huge potential of the club and the supporters in the community can grow to its full extent. Now is the time for both Barrow AFC and its fantastic fan base to pull together to be a force in the conference.

I remember I bought a BAFC fluffy bin when I was nine. Fat chance of that now.

I often wonder what happened to that bin, I didn't put it in a bigger bin (to throw out). Maybe my mam gave it to charity.

What's the weirdest BAFC merch ever produced I wonder....

Im just not surprised.

Im just thinking how many times the clubs snubbed those kinds of opportunities in the past.

Surely the new lot should learn from this type of thing because the club just needs to be able to lool after itself.
I hope the usual defenders of the club will one day realise something needs to be done. Painting over it with thin and false positivity will soon start to become hopeless.

Ive emailed Steve Casson 3 times today requesting a meeting to discuss my points in full. He is not replying and I don't think he will.

I would still like to sit and have a chat with Austin Straker should he have the time. Just feel like I have no way of getting this to happen.

And I've e mailed David Cameron 3 times because I don't like the way the country is going, guess what, I've had no replies!

I think people have got the message by now.

What is it with you lot and completely stupid comparisons

David Cameron is running (or trying to) a country.

Our commercial manager is sat with his feet up playing solitairre updating facebook.

There is a substantial difference

Some people have. I.E people on here. The UDC haven't , well they have but they would just rather stick their head in the sand and hope it all gets better by itself.

I don't think the people at the club have got the message. This is my aim through all of this, to get the message accross to those who can change it. The club isn't running right and needs something doing about it. So you can either agree with me and help me get the point accross or sit on here and defend the club and call me negative because I want the club to change for the better. Up to you old timer .

I'm not defending the club, I agree that the commercial side of things is a shambles and it pains me to read everything on here about, communications, shirts and most things non- football related.

I'm as frustrated as anyone else by off field ineptitude.

You will have plenty of time to discuss things with PC/SC when the season starts, which by my reckoning is 2 weeks tomorrow; not long to wait after years in the commercial wilderness.

We just don't need a running commentary and constant snipes and trying to belittle anyone that doesn't fit in with your views and ambitions to be the Messiah of Barrow AFC.
