McKirdy is apparently a dressing room Sh1t-stirrer. Believe he was the same at Carlisle and apparently that is why this pair are being offloaded regardless of talent . So,no thanks

Obviously with Hindle gone (wasn't a shock) and Reid (not played for weeks so not shocked) then possibly Biggins going back. Sea, Gribbin, Zouma not even getting on the bench recently and we have Jones, Barry and another (can't remember his name or spell it 😂 - Clthe ?) out injured for how long ? So there is a lot of room depending on finances of a few new lads coming in with a few fringe players leaving on loan etc - obviously we hope no regulars aren't shipped out or sold but it can happen! With some really important fixtures coming up (as in a few teams around us) we really could do with a few good players arriving asap 🙏🤞
How many do we have in the current squad (the list on this forum isn't up to date)? We're allowed a maximum of 22 (excluding U21s). I reckon in total 25 but unsure how many of those are U21. However, it does limit how many can be recruited. I've got:

Dixon, Lillis, Barry, Brough, J. Jones, Platt, Hird, Brown, Zouma, Wilson, Burns, Ntlhe, Hardcastle, Kay, J. Taylor, C. Taylor, M. Jones, Beadling, Gribbin, Biggins, Quigley, Angus, James, Sea, Baker-Richardson.

Of those, Burns is long-term injury (and, even then, questionable whether he will play for us), M. Jones and Baker-Richardson are still some way from a full return, according to the manager.
Don't let the old man in.

I hadn't included Penfold, I thought he had moved on. So that's 26 squad - 3 U21s = 23

yeah - we are allowed 22 - but as Baker Richardson has been unavailable and Penfold has been out on loan we've only had 21 (not including Reid as he was 19) - we would have to either loan out some - or simply leave them off the squad of players we can pick from - a bit like when teams in the champions league announce their 24 man squad and can only pick from that. Penfold would be one to go out on loan if that league ever starts again.

Don't we have a 3rd keeper. Maloney?

yes we have a 3rd keeper - I couldn't remember his name. If he's under 21 it may be that Lillis reverts to just Goalkeeping coach and Maloney goes on the bench if we are struggling to keep the number of players aged over 21 within the 22 player limit.

Southend just brought in Hackett-Fairchild (ex Bromley) on loan from Pompey although he has been loaned back to Bromley earlier this season until now.

If they can shoot as well as Steve McQueen and are as cool under pressure as Robert Vaughan they will do for me ;) - as long as they don't ride off into the sunset until the job is done.
