I thought we played well and controlled the game.
Thier keeper was the saviour of Scunthorpe my only problem was how banks slowed the game down to walking pace when we were so much on top.
Some of the chances we missed were shocking but that's football at all levels just ask man city they couldn't hit a barn door against palace so it happens at all levels.
3 points is the same whether it's 1 or 6 nil.
On to Saturday now and hopefully another win.

Like his golfing analogy: "From tee to green we've been really good" but, as they say in golf, 'Drive for show, putt for dough' and we have a severe case of the yips in the penalty box.
Don't let the old man in.

Oldham will likely stay up - Stevenage for me are the team to drop.

Man City aren't consistently missing scoring though so not comparable.
Every season we seem to be looking towards seeing the season out safely in the hope it is sorted out in the summer ready for the coming season but it never is. Just the same old same old.
I honestly feel sorry for the owners who have put in so much of their own money with little return, not in the monetary sense, but in being able to attend at least one game and not be filled with angst.
The attendances have held up much to my surprise so it shows we have the towns interest for now. We just have to keep it and build on it.
Plus the away following has been phenomenal, cheering the team on from first whistle to final whistle.
Let's hope and pray we see the season out and are still in the Football League next season.

The last three seasons have ended in great tension - one "will we be promoted" and two more "can we survive". Let's get this one over and plan for progress and stablity next season.

One thing that last night highlighted is that failure to score is not just about lacking a really good striker. We created lots of chances and they fell to several different players, who all failed to convert. That's really frustrating, but I am not sure what the manager can do about that. Is it carelessness or anxiety?

take a win like that any day of the week at this point in time, performance irrelevant, results EVERYTHING.

Did we ever find out if Mark Cooper is solely in charge of recruitment or if Paul Ogden is responsible? We have to get the training situation sorted in time for the first day of pre season onwards and recruit properly this summer; it sounds so simple……

I agree results are everything, we just haven't been getting the results hence the position we are in.
It is 1 win.
To be getting the crowds we are with 3 league home wins is proof we have the support if the players can find or improve their scoring abilities.
I have sat through some utter dross in my time both home and away and most if it has been with no goal scoring chances created cos we have been dross but to see golden opportunities squandered the way they have been is really frustrating and is even testing my patience.
Maybe a hypnotist could help them

I wouldn't know as I have no knowledge of who any of the backroom staff are. Does anyone?
The days are gone when we knew who was who and what their specific roles were.
I just want to watch a game where we maximised our opportunities instead of blaming bad luck etc.

The whole world knows we need a striker and MK has said that WILL be addressed in the summer. Just think of the crowds we could get if we are a top half team.

Agreed. If they do nothing else in the close season, the club will have to focus all their attention and resources on bringing a couple of proven strikers into the squad. It would be madness to go into another season with the pitiful lack of firepower demonstrated this season. For all their huffing and puffing, none of our current forwards are up to the job unfortunately so maybe they could be off-loaded to offset the necessary outlay.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

"When the ball comes in the box, you are Mulholland. When the ball comes in the box, you are Mulholland. When the ball comes in the box, you are Mulholland . . . . . "

Younger fans should replace the name Mulholland with Cowperthwaite . . . or Diamond, or Brady, or Morton, or Peverill, or Walker, or Whittaker, or Quigley, or Holt (but only mark 1) . . . any striker who will stick some chances away.

Meantime, grateful thanks to midfielder John Rooney.

Think we should help by copying the Magdeburg fans. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D7WJgToNRps

Agree Adam. Have thought Stevenage were the most likely fall guys for a while now. Their performances under Revell at the end of his reign were dreadful. Tisdale achieved the usual dead cat bounce and his reputation convinced many that they were going to be fine. But they've been on the decline again and this seems to be getting worse, Cant recruit and cant change the manager again, so its going to be a real struggle with what they've got to reverse the trend.

Oldham have Sheridan and anything can happen under Sheridan. He truly inspired them when he took over in the way that only he can do. However all their wins did was to propel them back into the relegation fight. Their results have also started to deteriorate again though their performances remain competitive. I believe they also have four consecutive home games coming up. So you wouldn't pin your hopes on a collapse.

As for the finishing line well clearly there will be one but I'm not sure what it will be. If you dont believe it will be us in 23rd place then you have to assess what that team will get. If you think its going to be Stevenage then you could assume that a reasonable (actually pretty good) haul from their last 9 games would be a 50% haul and this would put them in the 47 point range. That is significantly better than they are currently delivering though. Even if Oldham do pick up again it statistically unlikely that both they and Stevenage will make a break at this stage.

Also whilst wins are precious I dont believe they will be easy to come by for any team in the bottom 7-8. We have half a dozen teams who have 8 wins or less so you may well see the 22nd team escaping with no more than 10 wins. In that sense MCs mantra is correct - If you cant win dont lose".

Same as last season - 46pts will be enough.
Started looking at the run-ins yesterday similar to what I did last season - all the teams are pretty much playing the same sides in the run ins between now and the end of the season. With some of the relegation rivals still to play each other (can’t both win)
