Without this ownership stepping in we would have been a non-league club forever full stop? dont cut your nose off to spite your face

I'm not sure if people realise, but you can appreciate what the board have done for us but be critical on some decision making, like appointing managers. If you back everything they ever do, we will never improve ourselves. I've tried to argue this point elsewhere but just had it slapped back in my face.

Any signs of a video interview from the board on Cooper leaving and Phil Brown coming in?

Wouldn’t say the work on the holker street end is a positive, it’s an absolute shambles of a roof! Still far from anything suitable for league football

This is an excellent summary for me.
Whenever I listen to interviews with Hornby or Shearer I think they are great at what they do, and they have literally helped drag us back to where we couldn’t even dream we would be.
But it’s been clear since being in the EFL they need some help with the football side of things; Harrogate, Sutton, Hartlepool aren’t bigger clubs than us but all have adjusted far better to life in the football league than we have.

Welcome Phil, hope you can motivate a underperforming team. By the sound of it by your interview the players trained very well and were happy, I wonder if that's a hint all was not well between the players and Cooper.

This is good news. You cannot underestimate the importance of location - there has to be a a connection to the North West to make it work - Cooper lived his life in the S West - he never looked comfortable here and I don't think he was. Good luck Phil, we look forward to the journey and safe destination!!

I have to agree, without Phil Hornby and the other directors who stepped up and put their own money, repeat their own money into the club,Barrow AFC would have been dead and buried.
It,s very easy to criticise the directors when things are going wrong, but these people are true Barrow AFC fans and didn,t expect to make any money when they invested. They think Barrow deserves to be in the Football League and have done their damnest to get us there and keep us there.
I can remember the dark days when the club nearly went out of existence due to a crook from Liverpool and if wasn,t for Brian Keen agreeing to get involved our club would be no more.
People criticise the Holker St End stand, but did you want to carry on standing out in the wind and the rain?It was erected within a budget the club can afford.Ok we could go out and borrow loads of money and lead the club into bankruptcy. Is that what people want?
Try supporting the efforts people are making. If we stay in the football league money will become available and little by little the ground will improve, but before that happens we have to have stability in the EFL and be financially astute whilst doing it.
Barrow AFC is a work in progress.Onwards and upwards and good luck to the Bluebirds on Saturday. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Great Post, Methuselah!

"football(ing) people"

What a nonsense, meaningless phrase this is!

People with a few years' experience of training for a few hours several days each week?

People with no business or management experience?

The sort of people who sit on football committees?

Who is meant by the phrase? What makes somebody a football person?

The old-guard clique in football are the sort of folk who use this phrase. Resentful of innovation, outsiders, change, opening up the game.

Are the big clubs run by 'football people' or successful business people?

Think a few people are getting a bit silly over the appointment of Brown.
If he wins more than he loses the same people will be wanting us to keep him.

Even if we hadn't had a mutual separation now I think we would have in May.

He isn't for me. If he keeps us up great but then shake is hand say thanks and get rid. Long term he would be a disaster IMO.

I made a bit of a kneejerk reaction to the appointment on Twitter. Basically 'God, NO', but I will cautiously retract that for the time being. Who knows, it could be the magic fit we have been looking for. Ultimately, for me, he has to care. Cooper never seemed to care IMO.
