Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
Brilliant.performance by the Bluebirds today who blew away all in front of them.Really slick passing and going after every ball.Really enjoyed watching todays game and where did that rocket from Aquah come from?He didn,t seem.to be doing a lot and then pulls off a shot like that.Much better than last season, long may it continue.Onwards and Upwards.

Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
My first ever visit to Holker Street. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and a great second half. Newby was outstanding on the right and was my motm.
I will be back.
I will be back.
Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
Two important tip overs by Paul Farman first half made sure it was Port Fail. Bolt out of the blue by Garner put us in front and we grew from there. The withdrawal of the impressive Chislett helped us and have got to admit the inclusion of El Newby paid dividends, he must of been chomping at the bit after watching the damage Kouyate was doing on the other flank. A thunderbolt from Acquah then a well deserved goal by the impressive Spence. We couldn’t have asked for more but the cake was well and truly iced by Don Telford.

Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
Second half performance was one of the best I've seen from Barrow over the last couple of years. First half the football was decent but there was zero goal threat and the only threat was from Kouyate who although very raw always tries to go forward and once he learns how to cross accurately will be a decent player.
However, as has been said, the substitutions of Acquah and, particularly, Newby transformed the game. It was Newby's best performance for a very, long time and Acquah produced one of his superb strikes which he does from time to time and generally played very well. It definitely seems as though he performs much better when coming on as a sub instead of starting the match. As usual, Spence and Campbell were excellent as was the whole starting defence plus Eccleston when he came on for Feely.
I have to wonder why a team can play so well against a Port Vale side which is far better than a Carlisle team against which it performed so miserably and I hope it's not going to be a case of performing well at home but badly away. The defence looks good and our best two players are in midfield - Spence and Campbell - so no problems there but IMO we still need another striker with some pace to make a possible promotion team.

First half hot and cold.
Second half blew them away.
Not often we can say it but the subs changed the game today Newby with 3 assists Acquah & Telford with a goal.
But a huge shoutout to Neo Eccleston looks a quality addition always sceptical about loans but this lad looks the business surely has to be first choice right back moving forward.

Eccleston is an exciting addition and is great going forward. I do worry about him defensively though. Not as solid a right back as Feely IMOBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 9:23 pm First half hot and cold.

We win and you want to chop feely from the team? The game is won and lost over 90 mins? Neo has played 2 3 league games. He’s doing well coming on and learning his trade. Don’t under estimate the work feely is putting inBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 9:23 pm First half hot and cold.

Maybe I worded it wrong as of course Feely should start next game after today but I just think Eccleston looks a quality player & it’s nice to have options all over the pitch.

Right back freely and centre back freely are two completely different players. Credit where it's due he's stepped up
Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
Big Emile did well to get his shirt to the laundry room at the end of this afternoon after 35 minutes of intense efforts by Heneghan and Debra to remove it from him.
Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
Unfortunately according to Clemence on RC Feely and Mahoney will probably not make the next couple of games due to injuries they picked up

I actually think that second 45, was the best half of football I’ve witnessed at Holker Street, in years, if not decades, we were superb. The energy and quality of football was an absolute delight to watch. We now know the levels this team can achieve.

The last time we beat Port Vale at Holker St in a league match:-
05-Feb-1938 Division 3 (N) Holker Street Barrow 3-0 Port Vale

Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
Aquah has blasted a few rockets in now. He obviously has a hell of a shot on him.
I'd like to see him take few free kicks from shooting range could be a good addition to his game.

Re: Barrow v Port Vale, match thread
Am I missing something - can’t find Clem interview on either RC or club website? Also, ifollow cut off pretty much straight after game - again - so no chance hear post-match. Would be happy to text in if that’s what RC want us to do to get them to talk about something other then Carlisle, but no point doing that if I can’t get the coverage in Gtr Manc!
