I think the sign looks great. Bit concerned that the panels are taking some hammering from wayward shots. Not sure if we can do much about that.

I,ll be there at nine in the morning to open up. If the weather poor and no one around, will have a tidy up and move a few things around ready for next batch of work.

Sort wood, scaffold poles, tools in workshop etc.

Also will be there Tuesday at 6.00 in case some fancy a few midweek hours and not going to Lancaster

Anyone come up with a price for the blocks on the crossbar end wall yet...around 250 required

Ian took me and Darren round the ground today to show all the work being done. My last visit was in April so can I just say a huge thanks and well done to anyone who has helped out and contributed to the MA team over the last few months. The transformation is amazing and although I know there is still plenty to do the ground is starting to look loved again.

We were too late to have a look at the changing rooms but the first aid room, disabled area, cladding, painting, turnstile doors, path by crossbar and many other things all looked fabulous. What a tremendous effort and I think it was probably even more obvious to us what had been achieved having had a three and a half months gap.

Really enjoyed Ian's enthusiasm and that of several others as we went round. I didn't see any balls hit the cladding during the game today either :D

Could we erect some of that netting I have seen at other grounds? It is used to prevent the balls from going out of the ground. It would provide some protection.

It looks a bit isolated at the moment but when the plaques go on the panels it will be more decrotive. I hope you will change your mind then. If not-------(awaiting for the new smiley I requested, you know the one)

Just a quick visit this morning from me but still a few down there.

A new volunteer joined the ranks this morning, we gave him the run down on how voluteering can seriously damage your marraige....I don't think it put him off.
Ian is another joiner who came down this morning to see how he can help, he's already given us a shelving unit that's about 8 foot high & offered to loan his trailer to us whenever we need it & now we can pick any bigger items up now as he's offered his the use of his van when needed.

Jonty was there with his daughter cleaning seats in the main stand.

Bahamasbluebird was painting some of the walls again, think he finds thatt easier than riding around town on his bike delivering AGM letters to save the club money on postage :)

Myself & Mrssenorita had a tidy up in the GMA, it's ended up looking a bit of a shit hole again because we've been making use of the good weather by painting & doing the cladding so everything has just been getting dumped in there.

Getting confusing this -

Ian (me) Ian (joiner) Ian (joiner)
Tommy (Mrssenorita) Tommy (barrowabc) Tommy (my appo)
Whitty (1964) Whitty (1969)
John (Jonty) John (John M) John (Dalton bluebird)
Peter (?) Peter (Nichols) Peter (biggest fans)
Al, Al, & Al..............Any name will do to volunteer though ;)

I wouldn't be too worried yet about the cladding taking a few dents. You can't see it till you get right close up. Don't like the idea of netting to be honest so I would just see how things go for a few months before making a call - it may be necessary to replace a few sections every now and again (maybe review at end of each season) but I suspect the majority will be fine for a lot of years.

I like the sign especially for the price it cost - very good bargain.

That's fair enough Ste, it was never going to be something everyone likes. I've got to say though that a lot of people said to me & the others yesterday they liked the sign, supporters stopped John Mackay & said the same.

Out of interest, what is it you don't like about it?

BTW, the post with the speakers on will be took down & the speakers will then go on two posts either side of the sign with the wiring going behind the cladding or we'll just move the post behind the cladding.
