No relegation from league 2.
That leaves the football league one short still
Wonder how they fill that empty gap???????

Only logical, fair and (in my very biased opinion) decent thing to do is to invite us up.
I cannot conceive of any other reasonable option...

Unless they decide to operate one short, but that causes more problems than it resolves IMO.

They've done everything I thought they (eventually) would. No more games, weighted PPG. Full promotion and no relegation.
These are of course proposals. The Stevenage issue is of course the League protecting its own. Its quite clever in some ways because it is League 2 saying to Stevenage "We want you to stay up and if you dont it wont be our doing".
Ultimately League 2 has now come out and decided want it wants. It will be interesting to see what the EFL and FA have to say.

I reckon the financial benefits of an extra club would be the winner in that argument

Todays Guardian...........
League Two clubs have verbally agreed to cancel the regular season with immediate effect but want to stage the play-offs, a decision that will require ratification by the English Football League and Football Association.
The clubs gave their indicative view on a conference call on Friday and came to the consensus that curtailing the season was the only sensible outcome.
The preferred stance for settling league positions would be on points-per-game, with weighting to reflect home and away results. It is understood clubs are hopeful of playing two-leg play-offs and a final, given that the Premier League and Championship intend to complete the season. The plan is for three clubs to be promoted automatically, which would mean Crewe, Swindon and Plymouth going up to League One.
All 24 League Two clubs gave their view on the call, chaired by the EFL chairman, Rick Parry, and it quickly became clear the majority leant towards halting the interrupted season. Many reiterated that they would ideally like to restart but that it was impossible to do so because of the cost of playing matches behind closed doors.
Matters in League One remain unclear, with at least six clubs facing opposition in their determination to resume the season and that meeting broke up without a resolution. The six clubs who said on Thursday they were united in wanting to continue – Peterborough, Oxford, Portsmouth, Ipswich, Fleetwood and Sunderland – are understood to have been particularly vocal.
League One clubs are expected to reconvene next week, with many executives seeking answers as to the ramifications of stopping the season, particularly in relation to liabilities regarding insurance policies and broadcast and sponsorship deals.
Clubs have been informed that the cost of player testing for the remainder of the season would be £125,000-£140,000, a sum many feel is not viable, especially in the absence of crowds, their primary revenue stream.
On the subject of relegation from League Two it is understood clubs were deeply uncomfortable at the prospect of relegating bottom-placed Stevenage without affording them the chance to play their way out of danger. The majority of clubs agreed there should be “no further relegation” into the National League but such a decision is subject to a formal vote then EFL and FA ratification.
The shared expectation is that Barrow would be promoted as champions from the National League to restore the EFL to 72 teams after the demise of Bury.

Well that will end the National Leagues ridiculous notion that they are still going to hold play off.......

Almost any PPG method would result in:
Swindon, Crewe & Plymouth in the automatic spots.
Cheltenham, Exeter, Colchester & Northampton in the playoffs.
Stevenage staying bottom.
The decision on relegating Stevenage would be made by the EFL along with the FA & National League.

You do realise that Stevenage avoiding relegation would mean that the only way we would be invited up (and this is not guaranteed) is because of the demise of Bury.
As quoted in Stevenage’s local rag:
There could be a silver lining though to a dreadful season as the Press Association understands that “clubs were in favour of three teams being promoted automatically to League One, completing the play-offs to decide on one more side to go up, and on no teams being relegated to the National League”.

I'd be surprised if the EFL board & the Fa let them promote clubs but not relegate because to facilitate promotion from league two they would surely have to relegate teams from league one!

The turkeys have voted for Christmas not to happen - no surprise there
The national League need to get their fingers out now and make a decision

Just listened to the Chairman of Stevenage on Five Live. His whole conversation was about the rationale for not playing on which we all agree on and he veered away from much discussion of the relegation issue just saying that it was the first step to a resolution and how friendly the meeting was.
As far I understand it League 2 have "asked for consideration to be given" (presumably by the EFL and FA) to not relegating Stevenage. That is a very odd set of words and seems to suggest that League 2 have come to a conclusion that by rights and by the strict interpretation of the EFL regulations Stevenage dont have a very strong legal case for a reprieve. Its almost being asked for as a favour.
So I dont know how confident they are of getting that through. Its going to be interesting next week.
