Exactly but there was no need for people to have ago at Ste he merely offered his opinion and clearly stated from a design point of view. Some people just need to read and understand what people have wrote before over reacting which happens a lot on this forum.

Anyway the ground looks much better than last season the paint job has helped.

Elaine Louie had a very quick look at the portacabin loo the other day he thinks it could be a big job to fix but until he's had a good look he cant be sure.

What do you call asking someone to name the "list of the jobs you have done at the ground recently?"

As for the sign, I don't think your comment is valid really Jonty of course it matters what the sign looks like. I'd play for Barrow for free, but I'd look out of place on the Barrow starting XI. Should they play me as I'm cheap ?

The idea of the sign was good and like Ste has already said some will like it some won't. Out of interest who designed it ? As people well know there is a graphic designer on this board who I'm sure wouldn't of said no if he was asked to help, just like he has done for the BDF recently.

I agree AB

I massively appreciate the work done by the volunteers at the ground. It looks far, far better than last season. Well done!

There are some on here who would argue over nothing :(

Credit to everyone who does something for the club. All parties have said the wrong thing on ocassion just put up with it.

If i remember rightly there was an invitation for suggestions for the sign.

Ste you are a very bright lad and I know you were only responding professionally to a genuine question but surely you knew the likely response from some quarters? Whitty I know you are frustrated but don't have a go at people who do other things for the club.

We have a new season coming up we seem to be a bit more optimistic (subject to AGM) and lots of people are doing whhat they can to improve the club. Power to all of them lets stick together not start whinging at each other.

Come on people- let's not get hung up about this sign or who does what debate and I don't think Whitty's comments weren't meant in any elitist way.

Bloody hell when is the first game.

Bloody hell, I only go away for one night & all of a sudden I'm getting texts at seven in the morning, pm's & four pages added while people throw things at each other

Ste said he didn't like the design (more from his professional pov than just someone like me looking at a sign) I asked him why & he told me...I've no problem at all with that, we'll all have our own opinions as to what way some jobs should be done. One person doesn't think we should paint all the perimiter walls, another thinks the cladding was a waste of time, someone else thinks we're going overboard with the changing room make-over, another doesn't agree with that much being spent on the first aid room - no one is right, equally no one is wrong - it's opinions.
Back to the history of the design, Graphix signs asked me to go down last week & have a look at the image on their computer, to me with no background in designing these things it looked fine so I ok'd it. Before all that happened I took advice off Ste about something else I wanted on it & David at GS who both said what I wanted would look slightly odd so we took it off. After that, & to be fair I couldn't possibly go back & forth asking people about the design all the time as we'd still be waiting for it NEXT season.

I've no problem at all in some people not liking some of the job's we do, but if the majority think we're improving things - that works for me.

The thing that's annoyed me about what's just happened over the last four pages is how (& it's crept in with the odd dig for the last few weeks now) people seem to think some look down on others or there's an elitist attitude!! that is [SwearFilter] bullshit. I cannot think of one person who helps out who thinks like that.
We mention all the time about how we need more volunteers & why shouldn't we? if we hadn't started this thread & asked for help where would we have been now? still with £200 in the kitty & three people trying to make a difference!

It's been fantastic doing this for many reasons, meeting new people I would never have spoken to but have so much in common with but would never have known that, helping to improve the ground & not taking money from anyone like the BDF or taking sponsors away from the club - it's all been at no cost to BAFC & that in itself show's how much people care.

Can all this stop now please, especially the "elitist" remarks. No one is looking down on anyone, if you can help out that's great, if you can't it's no problem.

Tuesday evening, Sunday morning anyone :)

Having ago at Story and asking what he has done, on a forum made by him that without it, all this wouldn't of even been thrown out to be arranged, done and publicised.... is priceless.

Carry on.

Totally agree. People do all sorts & in their own way all help out with various things that keep this club going, Ste & the other mods do a fantastic job, the BDF are tireless in their fundraising, Lancaster Branch & Reg did the betting sydicate which we at the MA benefited from, Adam did his scorecast thing, Ste organised the short sponsorship idea last season......we could go on & on.

Whitty 69 might just have read the post & taken it wrongly - fired out a reply that was a bit OTT but you've got to remember, he's put in a LOT of time down there & his own jobs at home have taken a back seat. Without him helping out we wouldn't have had the lighting done in the M A, we wouldn't have had the first aid room completed, the power to the away directors room would still be tripping out etc etc.

We've all posted something that we might have regretted later just makes a change for Tommy not to be involved this time

TURNBULL OUT!!!!

Oh, wrong thread. Sorry.

At the end of the day, ANYTHING that is an improvement on what was there before is fine by me so I won't be re-treading on old ground. Although if any oiks damage those disabled area doors, i'll leather 'em! ;)

Ian, does the First Aid room need painting out still?

I spoke to Ian at the ground today Chris and he thinks it should be scrapped but keep all the fittings from it to use elsewhere. It is in a terrible state with the ceiling collapsing and it would be a big job to put right. The rain was running through the electric light in the Gents side too. Thanks anyway to Louie.

I cannot believe people are complaining about a sign or for that matter any other jobs done by these people, its all been done for nothing and we all know what it would have cost if a builder had been brought in, some have attended every Tuesday and Sunday for months, If you have helped your entitled to an opinion nothing more, those who have not are entitled to nothing but to look at what they have done and enjoy it.

Can we put a cap on all the right's & wrongs that have gone on for the last four pages now?

Back to business.

I was offered a decent sized donation the other day & turned it down :o

The reason I turned it down was I don't want to have to rely on people just giving us a couple of donations every year, I don't think it's fair on them & we would never have any sort of idea what money is coming our way.

The idea we've come up with (and I would hope the EM will put this in their next write-up concerning the M A) is - After speaking with Uncle Peter who will look at setting an account up where people can make some sort of debit for £1 per week - £4 a month (although this can be whatever you want to put in)
I've already had a few people say they'd contribute & we think that that is a better way rather than rely on the bigger one or two off donations off supporters per year.
We have plenty of money still in the kitty but it'd be nice to know for certain there'd be x amount coming in for the future, it'd allow us to see where we can spend money & how much we could put aside for projects.

Would anyone be interested in this?
