Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Couldn't agree more Ian! Would love to see Edmo here for a hell of a lot longer, but he has to stop waiting for things to happen and instead start making things happen!!!

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Looking on the positive side there's only two points difference between us in 18th place and Grimsby in 11th place so there isn't a big chasm in points and IF we can get some sort of fight instilled into the team and play as a TEAM it can be redeemable.
It's no good heads dropping and giving up when mistakes are made, they need to get a backbone and dig in and have some pride in their performances. They showed that in the games against FGR and even at Cheltenham when the fans gave them a terrific ovation at the final whistle and recognised the commitment put in even though we lost. We needed the hearts of 10 Andy Burnsy's on Monday, that never say die spirit! Fair play to Simon Grand he did come down to the fans which can't have been easy with the mood they were in. He could have just slunk off but didn't.
We knew at the start of the season we would be up against it in this league and are finding out how hard it is BUT a lot of it is of our own making. Confidence must be at rock bottom and with no interaction between the players and fans how are they supposed to know that we are behind them and want them to do well.
As Paddy said "We're All Barrow Aren't We".
COME ON BARROW!!!!!!!

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
He overthinks it / worries about what the opposition do
The subs were being shown flip charts before going on at Halifax according to the wireless
Don't worry about the opposition just go out and go for it
The fans put up with rubbish football last year because we were top of the league

Just stating the facts though. Which they are.The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:With optimism like that you could get sales from cold calling the dead.ant wrote:Just been promoted. Seasons to be cheerful.Part 16 3/4

Agree! A very good post with some very valid points, particularly with regard to the football that's been played. The word 'Kick 'N' Rush' springs to mind...The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:Thats exactly my thoughts Kieran. Good post.Kieran wrote: Edmo - Recruited terribly in the summer, has massively under estimated the gap between this league and Conf North just as I feared he would do. People like Simon Grand might be dominant at the level below but he's not up to it at this level, although he's far from the only one.
We're a poor team, paying over the odds for players that the management team thought were better than they are.
The football is seriously dire to watch and I'm getting fed up of it now. Could live with it last season as when all was said and done we still won the league, albeit a lot more unconvincingly than it should've been with the players we had. But people are not going to keep paying to watch the [SwearFilter] Edmo insists on serving us up, as a bloke I like him but as a manager he's being found out. I can't see him seeing the season out and he's only got himself to blame.
I know we won the title last year but the football we played was DIRE! I put it down to the fact that we were playing in a very poor league and basically the football we played was a means to an end. People paid to watch because we were a winning team. This season is different - the National League is superior in so many ways. Most fans don't expect us to be a title winning team or even a top five team this season. And most fans won't expect the team to win every game at home. However, if the football being played is pure dog sh**e...then people are going to stay away in droves!
I know it's early days but I think Edmo will be gone by Halloween...

Hilarious. Before they ever owned clubs. The point is, every great club owner came from another industry.Moribund wrote:The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:

And to Mulholland above: the worst team at Holker Street in 70 years? So not the one that was getting tonked 0-6 by Gainsborough at home a month before Edmo came in?[/quote]
I agree with Mulholland (Is it you, Jimmy?)
This team and last season's side too (yeah, I do recall that we won the league) have been the worst footballing sides I've seen since 1968. Regarding the 6-0 trouncing by Gainsborough - that was one game - I'm referring (and I think Mulholland is too) to individual seasons not one game.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Christ, things are bad, bit of a one-off on here but yeh barring that 0-6 we're all agreeing that this is poor, poor football we're being subjected to. To quote Clough and many others: it's a simple game that gets over-complicated by coaches/managers.
All we want is a decent keeper (and I think we've got one).
Attacking full-backs (see:Higgins- Edwards)
Creative goalscoring midfielders (Lowe- Bond)
Goalscorers (Cowps-Walker)
Not easy admittedly but not this hard.
Be there tomorrow cheering them on nonetheless so come on lads play like your lives depend on it!
Remember that Dover goal when we passed it...just do it again

I've just seen Casson getting off a train at Barrow station, he had a big grin on his face and an axe dripping with blood in his hand!!!
