I do remember the incidents you mention Wintergreen - and whilst I wasn't there seem to recall it was originally another heated encounter. If I were to base my view of Macclesfield and their fans on a couple of incidents then in fairness I would have to accept the Aldershot view of us as being dirty northern ba**a*d*s. As an aside, I would also add that some of the chants and abuse coming emanating from a portion of our own supporters on Saturday would be considered by most decent people as both vile and disgusting, made worse by the type of game it was. Not a great advert for the town and not great for any parents with kids. But it came from only a handful of the "faithful". Personally, its all in the game as far as I'm concerned. But we should leave our anger and biases at the turnstiles when we leave.
I usually enjoy your posts & agree on many issues but as far as this one goes, Follow your own advise SB,

Am not trying to start an argument Wintergreen. Being falsely labelled as racist is not something you forget easily and is much worse than being stereotyped for your style of play.

My point was more about how, having gained an impression of a club through the actions or words of a minority of supporters or an incident involving someone wearing your (or an opponents) shirt, that impression persists and is sometimes even fostered for years afterwards. So finding reasons not to like the opposition is an important part of a supporters mindset.

Bloody hell mate..although there is a correct way to conduct yourself in public that's hardly a hanging offence is it.

I've got reasons for not wanting to sit with away fans when I go to away matches.
I agree about the language, and I'm not by any means a shrinking violet, and I realise that brick isn't the most common word on a building site.
I don't like obscene chanting, and I think we could be better than we demonstrate in that respect. Generally the support at Macc was excellent, and has been at the handful of other away games I've been to. In my opinion it's spoiled by a little bit of absolutely vile stuff, from time to time. I don't think it's representative of the club, and just not necessary.
You can give the opposition stick without resorting to being disgusting.
I found Macc quite an agreeable place. Friendly, knowledgeable, but largely quiet fans. Nowhere near as good as ours at supporting the team (foul mouths on occasion aside).
On another note I couldn't understand why Howarth was vilified.

I can. He was shit. Apart from 10 minutes a season he was always shit. The one Macc fan I know, and who was at the game, didn't quite use the same words as I do but took the time to let me know he agreed with my assessment.

No probs SB I take your point; we are still brothers and I'd sooner put some joy back in this town called Malice. We can forgive but not forget. During the Halom era we once stayed late at Moss Rose and the guys in the bar there were great with us. On the way home we remarked how similar to us they were socially and culturally; located in the sticks like us but still up on everything that made you a man about town in those days.

A Barrow player for 2 seasons, a player that helped get us promoted. Frozen out this season so we haven't seen much of him.
Players go on the field and do their best, they are not shit on purpose.
I don't understand your mentality at all.
Once again shocking comments from a so called Barrow fan. Comments like that make you a shit fan too !!!!! :sentoff:

One of the last games he played the NWEM had a picture of Howarth and the caption read " Howarth taking a shit-". They
obviously meant " a shot". Thought to myself no wonder he,s not getting picked if he's doing that. They changed it pretty
quickly but gave me a laugh.Dont think it was picked up on here. NWEM priceless.

No other clubs...

You're either a troll, someone who just likes to moan about everything Barrow AFC or you live in a little bubble of naivety waiting for a magical pixie to take you to a world without nasty swear words.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

He picks a player every season who is shit or whatever. Remember Logan & Bolland being singled out in previous seasons by this poster.
