GOING UP
Re: GOING UP
Delighted! Just sorry we couldn't prove it by winning the league after 46 games. Thanks to the Board, manager and team and everyone 'backstage' that help make the club tick.
Thanks also to all the people who worked so hard to save us from oblivion at various times, in particular the Keens, the legal people and the fans who subscribed to get us out of administration, and Paul Casson who stepped in to keep the club afloat when it was on the brink.

Re: GOING UP
Absolutely delighted.
Thinking of my two best mates that sat with me in the stand, sadly they never lived to see this day.
Raising a glass to the Bluebirds and absent friends.

Re: GOING UP
Honestly never thought this day would happen, thought our chance had gone when paul Carson left as we would struggle financially, huge credit to the board and players and especially ian evatt, what an inspired appointment, a barrow legend regardless what happens now, cant wait to see us as a league club, just a real shame a lot of friends and family members who I've been to games with over the last 35 years are no longer here to enjoy it, raised a glass or two to them last night

Re: GOING UP
Still pinching myself.... best news ever!! Said at the beginning of the season that we would be at least playoff position but to end up on top of the tree even if it was by a vote!!
No reason why we cant compete and head to league one!!
So many plaudits for IE, the board, fans, volunteers etc but I think our groundsman Gareth deserves a special mention to for keeping the pitch pristine to enable the team to play the way they do.

Re: GOING UP
Cosmic harmony. Dame Vera Lynn has passed now that the Bluebirds no longer have to visit the White Cliffs of Dover.

Re: GOING UP
Nice one BFH

Re: GOING UP
Just thinking of the auld fellas who used to sit in front of me, fewer and fewer as the years rolled on. old Cookie, always there with a wise crack, always smiling, a great bloke, who used to shout “Get it on the deck, ...I've got a sore neck here” and make everyone around him laugh with his wise cracks. “Bayliss you can go an all, and take that lot with you”, ....all in good humour and always back the next game no matter how bad the previous game had been. Used to tell me of games in the 50’s and big cup matches and his dreams of one day being back in the league. Sadly another who never made it to see this day. To all those who have passed on, we did it and we did it with style, playing it on the deck. Cookie would have approved.

Re: GOING UP
Genuine congratulations. Easily the best team in the league and gave us a lesson at Meadow Lane.
Nearly 50 years since the injustice of losing your league place, but hope its a springboard now for even more success and good to see the
ground being improved as well.
Didnt make it up this year, but if we follow you up will do so next season, and if not will get up for a game regardless.
NCFC fan.

Re: GOING UP
Never expected so much appreciation and good luck wishes from fellow supporters. It makes it even better.
Re: GOING UP
Congratulations to everyone at Barrow on your return to the Football League from a life-long Plymouth fan.
As someone who has worked at Devonport Naval Base for many years, I have spent a lot of time in Barrow whilst visiting BAE and during that time I developed a real liking for the town and the people.
Your club has been through some very tough times over the last 4 decades and no doubt many fans will have thought that they would never see League football at Holker Street, but that is about to be put right. I am sure many of you are thinking of family and friends who would have loved to see this day but sadly, are no longer with you.
No disrespect, but there is not a lot to do in Barrow of a winter evening when you are on your own so when I had the rare opportunity, I was glad to be able to go along to Holker Street and watch football under the lights in a ‘proper’ old fashioned, Northern ground. The ground certainly needs a bit of money to be spent on it and hopefully, that will happen over the next few years. But I hope you don’t end up relocating to one of those characterless, atmosphere-free, out of town stadiums. If you visit Colchester next season, you will understand exactly what I mean, a concrete Lego stadium miles from anywhere, with very little parking near to the ground.
Although we are at opposite ends of the country, it’s nice to know that we are not the only Football League club who are out on a limb. Like us, you are probably used to feeling a little bit cut off.
Finally, in recognition of your welcome return to the Football League and on behalf of everyone at Plymouth Argyle, I think we can now forgive you move on from the events of 50 years ago when Plymouth last played at Holker Street in the old 3rd Division and you beat us 1-0 courtesy of a goal actually scored by the Referee, something which lead to a change in the laws.
Welcome back.

Re: GOING UP
Thanks for your kind words, I think we've experienced all the emotions you can have in football down the years. These are the good ones though!
