People criticising Clemence on no goalkeeper, at worst case scenario just how many times will a goalkeeper get sent off or injured? I'd say possibly twice three would be highly unlikely, so we lose 6 points!, BUT by having 6 outfield player's we'd gain more than 6 points in a season !

Indeed Nige. Thats pretty much what Clemence said when asked after the game. These games always contain an element of risk. But only when the risk occasionally presents itself do we notice it and it becomes a big thing. As long as Clemence remains consistent in his attitude towards taking and managing risks, it probably will work out for him more often than not.

The irony for me is that despite what ended up happening on Saturday it’s the opposition and their manager’s inability to capitalise on their “fortune” that many will remember most of all.

It's easy to be critical of the manager after making that call but equally it's easy to be wise after the event, especially when losing the goalkeeper is a very rare occurrence. So, yes Nige, from the manager's perspective it's swings and roundabouts as regards the make up of the bench. I'm not complaining as long as he keeps us off the slide.

Agree Dallas work rate nowhere near good enough for the situation Barrow were in.
Give the lad a break he came on with 10 minutes to go and offers more pace than Telford but was up against a Man mountain in Delaney. FWIW Dallas had a decent game in midweek against Bolton and ran his socks off.
10 mins to go then even more reason to bust a gut for the team. So he ran his socks off according to you midweek so he is exempt to do the same on the following Saturday. I saw what i saw, if you don't like calling players out for lack of effort you need a head shake fella.

Many will have watched with varying degrees of fascination the game between Man City and Arsenal yesterday. In particular the tactics of Arteta and Arsenal after going a man down at the end of the first half.

Horrible to watch though it was, it reminded me quite bit of our second half against Swindon recently. To any independent observer this too must have looked an awful spectacle as the Bluebirds scrapped for their lives. Ironically City equalised in the 98th minute as did Swindon.

The media has been very harsh on Arsenal for adopting these tactics, brilliantly though they executed them against probably the most fast playing side in world club football.

Now I realise that having Feely in goal created a rather unique dimension for us and brought a fair amount of understanding with it. But I couldn’t quite bring myself to condemn Arsenal for utilising every single trick in the book to keep City out.

Perspective is a strange thing often influenced by experience.

Something needs to be done about goalkeepers feigning injury so a trainer can come on effectively slowing the game down and stopping momentum of attacking sides IMO. Arsenals keeper was guilty yesterday and our own Paul Farman does it regularly and personally it's not a tactic I support. It's cheating plain and simple IMO. Outfield players are guilty of it too. The big lad for Newport did it on Saturday but he never had the trainer on so was allowed to stop on the pitch. Personally id like to see the outfield player sent off for 30 seconds like they are now when the trainer comes on. With regards to goalkeepers what the answer is to stop the feigning of injury many of them do in todays game I don't know but something needs to be done about it.

Make them leave the pitch the same as out field players are supposed to. That would cut out all the play acting, and for the genuine injury, you park the bus.

Has Farman done it as much this season or since Stephen Clemence arrived? I didn't think he had.
Don't let the old man in.

Farman did it quite frequently when Wild was manager too.

Not every game but in those games where there is a lot of pressure on the defence. Usually at the same time - about mid way through the second half. It’s a tactic pure and simple. And it helps to slow the game down which is what every aspect of Arsenal’s performance was designed to do. Ironically probably wouldn’t have happened if Arsenal had a full complement.

How about instead of a sending off for two yellows awarding the opposition a penalty but keeping 22 players on the pitch. Only send off for a straight red? Just a thought.

Great way to incentivise injuring goalies
