If he came and got us relegated I think that would be the end of him ever managing again as well as the end of us!!!!
After his fairly short adventures at Derby, DC, Birmingham and Plymouth, it would be a brave club that thought he wasn't already at that stage.

Not his cousin but there is clearly two of them. There is Iain who a few months back was 'the best signing we've ever made' and 'anyone who wants him will need deep pockets' and Ian who is the devil incarnate responsible for everything wrong at the club though I've yet to see his name on the teamsheet or coaching on the Training ground. To be honest a lot of it is based on tittle-tattle, chinese whispers and bandwagon jumping with few or any knowing the facts. The Carlisle rumour I believe was started on the Carlisle forum by a fan who thought he would be a good fit. It was was escalated by Barrow fans kicking back and subsequently ran out of control. This witch hunt is becoming incredibly boring Hornby and Shearer are successful businessmen. Does anyone seriously believe they would allow themselves to have the wool pulled over their eyes. They needed someone with football insight to deal with all manner of day-to-day business.

In the whole of my life I’ve never known anything, anyone or any situation that have a group of people that change their minds at a drop of a hat.

Four months ago people were singing SCs name* from the tiers at Stamford Bridge. Fast forward….you’d think he’d murdered someone’s Nannie’s pet poodle.

Four months ago, massive panic about IW being poached by Carlisle. Fast forward…..he’s at fault for everything from the players we have to the manager we HAD to the lager being a bit warm.

Fourteen months ago PW was the best manager outside of the Premier League. Fast forward to last Mar/April and his tactics are shite, he has no plan B, his substitutions don’t make sense and the football is absolutely awful to watch and he’s totally at fault for us missing out on a playoff place. Now (unbelievably) people think it was a mistake getting shot of him!

Years ago Paul Cox’s style of football was terrible, attendances dropped off, or at best stagnated because people didn’t want to watch what was on offer. Fast forward…..people are mentioning his name again as a possible replace for SC.

*that’s not me defending SC or saying he shouldn’t have gone but just pointing out how fickle football supporters are.

I don’t envy the owners one bit trying to pick the next sacrificial lamb.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Great post and I agree with every point made
My big worry is how long can the owners keep going on like this before they say enough is enough.
They don’t have a bottomless pit of money and the dream of being a self sustainable club that Paul Hornby talks about appears to be further away then ever now.

P Cox has done nothing since getting Guisley relegated and I believe brought in / used 40 players in that period

Firstly a Director of football is not needed
The guy has added nothing ,Paul Ogden did more.

P Wild had to go for whatever reason things happened that won't be revealed.

Clemence was a naive appointment,no proven record,not hungry .
Stockdale his assistant was the Rochdale Manager when they dropped out of the league what a dream team
Dunn,Jolly,Brown , Cooper all of the same ilk.
Keep away from people with no proven track record .

We need a Manager with a steady record who can keep us up.

Completely take your point about Chelsea away; he gave us a great night out there
Imho the main thing about Clemence was a lot of fans weren’t happy Wild went and/or were very underwhelmed when Clemence was chosen as his replacement, it was a strange choice from the start, so he’s never really had the fans on side. Saying that he seems a nice fella, so people did genuinely want him to do well but it hasn’t happened and being honest the board have given him longer than most others would have done, the form over the last 3 months is nothing but completely awful.
As for Cox I’d be a million to one he takes over

There's one man with a proven track record that fits the bill. Ian Evatt. Let's get back to Barracelona.

Whatever wild did was serious enough for instant dismissal and an NDA. So I wish people would just forget about him.
Fact is since Evatt left we haven't had a decent manager. Losing him was out of our control but whatever he had it worked. Let's get him back to finish what he started.

Maybe not Amy Fenton but Sam Hird as his number 2 would be good.

I forgot to add my choice as next manager…..well everyone else has 😂

Like many others have said, no untried managers, the timing isn’t right for that. Someone who has done it at this level, is proven and ideally free at the moment and without knowing the ins and outs but what about Jon Brady?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
