Re: Travel next season
Organise a bus, advertise it on here, in the match day programme and over the tannoy system (if the club allow).
Take bookings as usual and place representatives at the popular side turnstiles, the main stand turnstiles and the Cross Bar before and after each home game.
If there is enough interest we travel - if not, we don't.
Seems pretty simple to me.

Re: Travel next season
Yes it is easy and simple as long as we are doing well and not fighting relegation. For those of us who like to go whether we are playing crap--and having a good moan--- or pushing for promotion it gets more difficult when the numbers drop.
We have been spoilt in the past for getting to the unpopular games but let's wait and see and I hope those points you have made about manning various posts to drum up support for the buses can be implemented but there again it is down to volunteers on a match day.

This is relevant and unanswered.boyliegladbach wrote:Is the AGM August 6th? , think I've heard that somewhere.
We could have an away game 2 days later.
Could it not somehow be sorted out sooner.

Re: Travel next season
At the risk of going back on my word regarding this thread.....
I've had a PM explaining it from another perspective so I'll have another read of it shortly to see if we on the trust are missing something and then perhaps we can have a chat about it at our meeting on Saturday because something definitely seems to be getting lost in translation.
As far as I can see though we want as many buses running to away games as possible, within reason we will take a financial hit if necessary (I think I'm right in saying that, otherwise I apologise) we want toilets on the bus if possible, we want the best deal on offer for all travellers. The travel lads are trying their best to put all of that into place.......I just don't see why we all seem so far apart on it.
Yes, yes, yes - that's exactly what I meant Kieran.Kieran wrote:I do see what you're saying Elaine, but the point has been made several times that buses will continue to be subsidised just as they were with the ISC. I think that was what Ian meant when he said people don't get it, because that point has been made over and over (at least thats how I understand what Ian was getting at anyway)

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

We're also going to try to promote the buses in the Evening Mail and via Radio Cumbria to try and get more folk travelling.spongebobsquarepants wrote:Organise a bus, advertise it on here, in the match day programme and over the tannoy system (if the club allow).

But in essence you've hit the nail on the head.

Re: Travel next season
The AGM is irrelevant to a possible away game first up in my eyes as bus will be booked, advertised and bookings taken long before then. There will be a possibility we could have another travel section meeting by then mind.

Re: Travel next season
Its relevant with reference to whether we are going to have a seperate Travel Membership where those who are members of that get cheaper travel than those who aren't and 36 hours won't be enough time to get everyone to join up to the new Travel Membership before the first away game. The Travel membership would need to be advertised in advance and people would need to get joined up asap (if we are having one)?Van Der Nipper wrote:The AGM is irrelevant to a possible away game first up in my eyes as bus will be booked, advertised and bookings taken long before then. There will be a possibility we could have another travel section meeting by then mind.
On the point about advertising the buses in the Mail the ISC were told they would have to pay the standard advertising rates which was why it wasn't done as it was too costly but its deffo worth seeing things have changed since then.
Re: Travel next season
Can you not see any way that this could be managed after the first bus trip?John Very Little wrote:Its relevant with reference to whether we are going to have a seperate Travel Membership where those who are members of that get cheaper travel than those who aren't and 36 hours won't be enough time to get everyone to join up to the new Travel Membership before the first away game. There are some people who only see problems.

Re: Travel next season
The way the Conference fixtures work we could have 3 away games in the first 2 weeks and I was explaining the relevance to Stu. Its important that a Travel Membership is introduced and the earlier the better as there's generally more interest in the lead up to and at the start of the season.Alhosk wrote:Can you not see any way that this could be managed after the first bus trip?John Very Little wrote: Its relevant with reference to whether we are going to have a seperate Travel Membership where those who are members of that get cheaper travel than those who aren't and 36 hours won't be enough time to get everyone to join up to the new Travel Membership before the first away game. The Travel Membership is vital as the money raised from it meant that about 3 or 4 ISC buses a season ran that were subsidised by it when otherwise they wouldn't have run without it. I'd like to see some way it could be brought in without it having to wait for the AGM? I want to go to as many as possible so that there is a better chance of this happening, not look for problems Alhosk.
Due to the costs involved now its no longer as straightforward as just booking a bus when some operators quoted around £1900 to go to the likes of Dover/Torquay and not all operators have the buses/drivers available every weekend, amongst many other associated issues.

Re: Travel next season
Just let me get this right with this travel membership- why is it important? Would it be affiliated to the trust- ie Trust Travel Membership. Sorry I 'm not seeing the value of it (was not at the meeting), but without understanding fully it does feel like another tier of pricing being introduced- ? - trust travel member, trust member, non trust member?
Is it not a straightforward deal- ie- if indeed its £1900 to go to Dover - then on a 57 seater Trust travel set a trigger point to go- say 45 needed- then work the costs according to that. ie it gets cheaper the more that travel, less than 45 it's not running. The slightly cheaper deal for a trust member still works as last season, no travel membership required and its a straightforward pricing tier. Absolutely non profit making and fundraising initiatives set at the start of the season specifically for travel could help bring down future prices.
Sorry if these are repeat questions- yes I'm not a seasoned traveller but would like to go to more games next season.

Travel membership will be discussed at the steering group meeting on Saturday and a decision taken then.

Re: Travel next season
There's a steering group meeting on Saturday where some of the things mentioned will hopefully be discussed as well as feedback from the travel meeting. If you or anyone else wants to come along, even if its just for the travel discussions then feel free.boyliegladbach wrote:It won't get answered because I asked itZak wrote: This is relevant and unanswered.

About 3 pages ago Pete said the subject can be raised at agm and if people want it they will get it.
Now a decision is being made Saturday .
