Bristol Rovers vs Barrow - Match thread

Absolutely fantastic day. We did the journey down in great time, nice pub beforehand, arranged to meet a mate who I don't get to see too often as he now lives in London, lovely weather and all topped off by that result.......what a day!

Excellent win. Really held firm at the end while still looking a threat. With Harrison in the team we have a chance against most league clubs.
Two excellent goals. No just the finish but the flick on by Bennett? And the first touch by Harrison was first class. The second goal was equally good. Fantastic ball in by Hughes, right in that corridor of uncertainty and an excellent finish by Harrison again. Doesn't look hard but anyone who has played the game at any level knows how hard that finish was. So nice to see us getting balls into the box. Remember the days of Rudders(for as good as he was) constantly turning inside ?

Most league clubs wont want us. I'd like any team at home as daft as it sounds, we'd give a prem side a tricky tie at home. An away at a top 6 club would be great( at Leeds/Newcastle to that) day out. Hopefully it's moved to a Friday for the TV so I could come back

Not too sure if it was a pen. First thought was no as he played for it, still not a yellow as their was contact. I'd be pretty disappointed if one was given for that against us.

Great day out. Easy trip for my son and me. Only 2 hours up the A34 and then M4 from Newbury. Fantastic view of the whole pitch from the top of the East Stand. Quite a few Barrow supporters up there and we could also look down at the Barrow fans filling the away corner and making more noise than the 4000 odd Bristol fans. Have to say the Bristol fans were excellent with many of them clapping Barrow off the pitch and being very generous in their praise. To top the day off my son won £80 as we thought the odds on a Barrow win were ridiculous. This result should not have been a great surprise as the difference between Division 1, Division 2 and the National Leagues is quite small. We rode our luck in the last quarter but the team is very disciplined and from where I was sitting you could see the 2 banks of 4 hardly ever getting out of position. Bristol struggled against Bennett and Harrison in the air all of the first half and, although we created very little in the second half, the winning goal came from a perfect cross by Hughes from the right touchline and a superb first time finish by Harrison. As usual in the matches I've seen, the outstanding players were the back 4 plus Harrison who really makes the team with his movement and pace. Livesey had a nervous start but very soon became his usual steady self and Diarra hardly put a foot wrong in the whole match. The fullbacks were solid in defence and excellent when given the chance to attack and for me Anderton was probably man of the match. I was impressed with the new keeper when I saw the Daganham highlights and even more impressed seeing him live for the first time. He made one brilliant save when we were under pressure near the end but his handling was faultless and he came and took cross after cross when Rovers went more direct in the last quarter of the game. Paul Cox deserves great credit for getting every ounce out of these players. They all fight for the ball and cover every blade of grass even those who aren't playing particularly well in a game.

Less than an hour for me up the M4 from Swindon....fantastic day...very proud that people saw us on TV......usually people ask 'who are Barrow?' Got still photo of the winner but no idea how to attach on here

Maybe we have kick-started Rovers' season for them as they put 4 past Bury on Saturday in a 4-2 home win. They could have easily rattled 4 against us too but couldn't cope with our mentality and DNA.
