Yeah because songs about poverty and not being able to feed your family is great mild banter. To mock that when there are rising levels of hardship all over the country?
You’re reading into it to much, It’s just a chant which has been around well before the current pandemic . Work-mates from Birkenhead and he takes the p1ss out of the Barrow accent, know people from Carlisle who take the p1ss out of the state of our town / town centre, regional banter. Football is the one thing you can go to, to leave life’s issues behind for 90 minutes. Do you get upset when the away fans sing “Barrows a sh*t hole*?
I’m sure it doesn't need pointing out to you that the club supports the local food bank initiatives to help 100’s of locals facing food poverty. Then you've got a young footballer lobbying the government to provide free school meals- its a problem affecting all over the country- not just one region. So no I don’t get upset (and I've heard them all) I just roll my eyes at the nonsensical aspect of it.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Very fair summary of the game from Jolley and his half time advice to the team was spot on.

I was disappointed with our first half after the first 15 minutes. Too much sloppy play and wasted possession, and not the intensity of the game against Cheltenham. We were possibly lucky to go in at HT only one down. Second half was a bit better, but still not great. It could have been different after our equaliser, but we will never know.

+1
if you care that much you could lobby sky sports to mute chanting next time UTD play Liverpool ? (And fans are allowed back in)

Food bank is a great cause though, not being a big head, but I remember getting carrier bags of stuff delivered to the main depo at Abbey road baptist church before it all got fashionable, now luckily most supermarkets have drop off trolleys

Absolutely great organisation the food bank. To say people singing "feed the scousers" is a direct attack on families who are struggling is either a wind up or a seriously 'woke' person. Great game, great atmosphere and cannot wait until the HSE is bouncing when this pandemic is over.

Been many years since I've stood under the roof at HSE and it took me back to my youth when we played Cheltenham the other week. Great addition to Holker St.

Surely this is a wind up, it's just an old school football chant , nothing more, how anyone can be offended or take it that seriously should stop going to football games

I don’t think anyone is offended, it’s just an opportunity for certain people to act morally superior and cast judgement on others. It a Puritan type of snobbery that people these days seem to revel in.

Not read through the 10 pages of the thread and I’m sure others have commented on Connor Browns performance, he didn’t half do his bit to help defend everything when we went down to 10 men, great to see.

Connor has been fantastic this season especially when the chips are down which is er, most of the season actually. I've thought about him as captain material but perhaps he might set the wrong example sometimes with his er, professionalism. On his way to becoming a 'great' along the lines of Paul Jones and Mick Hartland.

Not to mention the donation of his league winners medal to the cause, which I won't. What a guy.

A good draw last night. Lovely to see Hardcastle back adds composure and class on the ball we have been missing in midfield. Dixons shot stopping was sensational, quigley looks bang at it long may that continue. When Jones is back fit the biggins issue will go away I'm sure the lad is giving his all he just isn't good enough that is a fact.
My main tactical concern from last nights game was on set pieces we had all 11 in the box for corners and free kicks. We need one player (luke james ideally) on the half way line to keep 2 defenders back and give us an out ball, we had a lot of pressure chucked at us and we didnt have an out ball and as a result the ball came back time and time again.

Why do people keep saying Biggins is being made a scapegoat?? No one's blaming him alone for the side being where they are. We are saying he is just not good enough. End of. Evidence? Damn near every performance this season. Last night he looked to be trying his socks off compared to weeks where he's been anonymous. Unfortunately that just emphasised the fact because it was more visible. Hand in the first goal. Gave the ball away often. Got sent off for two tackles worthy of craven park, one nowhere near the ball.
As for the chants, some people really need to lighten up. Hardly the worst chant ever heard at a football ground. Calling them scousers is in the first place is just a wind up, rather like the constant barrage I get up here for being a "southerner". Virtue signalling at its finest.
It was a battling, gritty performance. Like last week, not the pretty football we were spoilt with last season, but right now, in this situation, exactly what's needed. Jolley can work with this and strengthen it January, hopefully, with a bit of quality.
Agree with the comments about Connor Brown. Wasn't filled with confidence early on in the season but the lad has become a must have player in the side. Done everything asked of him and more. I think it was tight between him and Joel for the motm award last night. Joel was superb.
We hate Carlisle United, we hate Workington too (and Morecambe), we hate Accrington Stanley but Barrow we love you :scarf:
