Re: Exeter on Tuesday
I thought I read somewhere that fans may be allowed back in limited numbers once the vulnerable had been vaccinated - some time mid March was mentioned I think. come to think of it, it may have been a quote from The Sun thoughHenneysKnee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 5:51 pmThink they’ll squeeze them all in this season unfortunately........

Re: Exeter on Tuesday
Everyone, including the ref to be fair, tried to get the game on. Gave it as much chance as possible. As did the EFL, Both teams agreed to start a bit early.
It was playable at 4, we had heaters on the areas of concern, we'd got extra ones in, the covers that could be taken off in time were still on.
Lots of folk (thanks to those this afternoon and yesterday btw) tried to get this game on- huge thanks to them.
It would be good, if for a change, folk had a think what a sickener it is for the likes of Gareth rather than come away with various theories.
The ref and the manager said we did absolutely everything possible.
On we go.

Re: Exeter on Tuesday
Wonder if Exeter are staying somewhere overnight before heading back? Could there have been the possibility of getting it played tomorrow at midday?

Appreciate the efforts of everyone who tried to get the game on. What can you do about the weather. Nothing. No need for snide comments from people such as ‘embarrassing’ and ‘tin pot’. You either give up trying and call it early each time, or you have a damn good go to get it on.
Re: Exeter on Tuesday
In all honesty why cant they try again tomorrow?
Re: Exeter on Tuesday
Thanks to everyone who made effort to attempt to get this game played tonight - I know the majority of fans appreciate it.
It was always going to be touch and go whether the game was to go ahead, despite earlier indications that the conditions were playable.

Re: Exeter on Tuesday
Can we start putting anti-freeze in the water sprinklers?
Re: Exeter on Tuesday
Good effort by the grounds team to try get it on.
To be fair it is really cold, I’ve just been for a [SwearFilter] in the yard and nearly slipped on ice on the way back in.

Its really difficult to know what to do in these circumstances. I guess that as long as its transparent to everyone concerned what the risks to the game in question are then thats about all you can do apart from try your best as we did today, to get the game on.barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 6:05 pm Everyone, including the ref to be fair, tried to get the game on. Its right that we empathise with Exeter however who like us have to travel a fair way to get anywhere in football terms. This is not a Dover like situation. I take it they made the journey the whole way and should be commended for that. Further, the journey to and from HS will not be without its own hazards. As I can attest conditions on the roads in various parts of the country are not at all good. Simply by requiring them to travel the EFL does put clubs like ourselves and Exeter at additional risk of falling foul of an accident at some point in the journey. At some point the brown stuff is going to hit the fan whilst a football club is forced to travel long distances in v poor conditions.
We may have the same issues ourselves at the weekend when we are due to go to FGR. The weather that has brought snow to East Anglia over the last few days is forecast to move towards the west by the weekend. Wont take much of that to fall in Nailsworth to force another postponement. If that happens lets hope the team bus is not already on the way when the game is called.
Re: Exeter on Tuesday
$hit happens, everybody did everything they could to get this game on like the EFL instructed recently. Was the team announced ? would like to have known the line up especially after the injuries on Saturday.
