Re: Cooper left by mutual consent
"I would question if he was ever 100% committed to the job. I have never been convinced he ever wanted the job. If you recall he said himself when appointed that Barrow was never on his radar until the club approached him. IIRC the words he used were "the owners were very persuasive" That to me says he never applied he was head hunted."
Was just about to say the same. The directors went after him, he didn`t apply for the job

Re: Cooper left by mutual consent
Easy to be wise after the event isn’t it?
I thought Cooper was a great appointment and was genuinely surprised we managed to get him; he looked to be the ideal man to stabilise the club for a season away from the drop zone allowing us to get more work done off the pitch knowing our EFL future was secure for another season.
First couple of months that looked to be the case but in the end for me it’s his stubbornness that has cost him really, the obsession with 5 at the back and making the same subs every week (Tom White off) etc.
Hopefully whoever comes in isn’t Phil Brown or Jim Bentley, will move to 4 at the back and at least try a more attacking style of play albeit the strikers we have aren’t suddenly going to start scoring goals for fun, but as was mentioned after the game on Saturday by Chris Lumsdon, at least get your goalscorers like Banks and Rooney closer to the strikers

Re: Cooper left by mutual consent
Originally when we signed him, I was very happy, over the months, his whining, and obvious falling out with players, and even more his lack of attacking intentions, NOPE, had to go for me, and his post match interview Saturday summed him up. My point is, whoever the board appoint, two thirds of people on here will moan.Wintergreen wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:28 amSo you were happy with Cooper?Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:04 am Personally don’t think half the people on here deserve what this board have given us. Everything they do they get criticised, every appointment they make is ridiculed. Whoever they choose as next manager ,will be wrong to many, pathetic really.

Re: Cooper left by mutual consent
There's going to be a hierarchy with the players. The last three managers have not been able to hold the dressing room so surely the choice of the senior players should be front and centre. Get someone that Banks, Rooney, Platt and Brough agree on

How do you know the last three managers have not held the dressing room (agree that was obvious with Jolly) but the other two? I'm not being pedantic here just interested if you've heard something.Bigfathoss wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 2:20 pm There's going to be a hierarchy with the players. Re: Cooper left by mutual consent
The current squad have clearly given up on Cooper. They don't play with any heart any more. The crowd still gets behind them so I am surmising it can only be that Cooper lost them. I thought it was obvious from the last couple of interviews too.

Des, you've jumped from 'half the people on here' to 'two thirds of people' ..your daytime job cost pricing at the petrol-pumps?Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:57 pmOriginally when we signed him, I was very happy, over the months, his whining, and obvious falling out with players, and even more his lack of attacking intentions, NOPE, had to go for me, and his post match interview Saturday summed him up. It's a supporters discussion forum NOT a board of directors love-in.
They have made some progress in some departments acknowledged but the managerial appointments have been an absolute disaster since our return to the league.
Jolley's without doubt the worst decision by any board since the speedway got the go-ahead.
You're maybe too sensitive a person for this football forum when the fan gets hit by the you-know-what.

Re: Cooper left by mutual consent
I was initially delighted with the appointment of Mark Cooper too, just what we needed I thought at the time. However, after his first few interviews I began to form the impression that he thought he’d made a mistake coming to Barrow. He couldn’t even fake enthusiasm in interviews just resorting to moaning about things. In fact so ineffectual was Cooper at communicating that I noticed Adam J had to phrase a question containing at least two possible answers for him otherwise it would be um-ing and ah-ing while he tried to muster up something to say and usually something/someone to blame. A square peg in a round hole; we go again.Desmond2-2 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:57 pmOriginally when we signed him, I was very happy, over the months, his whining, and obvious falling out with players, and even more his lack of attacking intentions, NOPE, had to go for me, and his post match interview Saturday summed him up. Hmm.
It's not gonna be Phil bloody Brown.

So much for copy & paste
Re: Cooper left by mutual consent
I can see why you thought that.
I wasn’t sure either.
That’s why I put it out there for questioning.
