I was one of those who started not to bother spending my money and stayed away over the last couple of months. However I think this appointment could be a breath of fresh air and it has inticed me back to see how we fare under the new leadership.

This is what the club needs right now. We need to start building up the attendances, we need the recent stay aways to return.

In our current predicament I think this is probably the best appointment we could've hoped for. Whilst it's not exactly inspiring, and some may argue it could even be a backwards step, the fact Edmondson has managed fairly successfully at this level and is local(ish) is probably what we need right now.

What I find intriguing from the BOD's official statement is this :- "The board took external advice on what Barrow AFC needs to aim for over the next 5 years, as it was clear that the previous cycles of using players who live away from this area has put immense pressure on the club. It was decided that a strategy was needed to underpin any future success with a mix of players from outside the area and the best of the local, home-grown talent."

Let's put aside the fact that they apparently needed "external advice" to come to this conclusion, it astounds me that they reached it in the middle of a season!! It was blindingly obvious in June (or even before!!) that this is exactly the direction we should be going in but Bayliss was never going to be able to deliver it, therefore, why give him another contract?

I wish Edmo all the luck in the world, it won't be the football manager that finishes our club off though, I'm afraid to say it will be the BOD and the same person who rescued it 13 years ago!!

AT LAST we have a proper manager, it shouldn't have taken so long for the appointment to be made and cause the damage it has done which will have been and may turn out to be very costly.
Will be interesting to hear more about the development of the younger players and how they'll progress.

Does anyone know how long a contract Edmo has? Hopefully everyone can give him a chance and get behind the new manager and the team as we desperately need results.

We're a club in deep, deep trouble and that's reflected in the standard of applicants for the previously 'vacant' post
Let's give the lad a great reception and whatever side he puts out our full support on Saturday

I have a feeling Edmo will bring out the best in Arnison... will he provide his goalscoring threat like he did last season for Workington.

This could just be the man to save us.

He's got my support and I warmed to the idea of his appointment when it became evident he was our target. I'm quite optimistic he's the right guy for the job.
