Easily playable that, ball looks like it would bounce well.

Wasn't a game abandoned due to water logging though? Someone went sliding through a puddle sending a spray yards into the air.

My first post!!! I used to be an avid Bluebirds fan and would never miss a game, but for the past two or three years I lost the enthusiasm to show up at Holker St, but would listen to Radio Cumbria each weekend. Anyway one Sat before Christmas at 2.45 I thought 'come on, give your support to your local team'. Against Solihull Moors and being part of a 454 crowd I had to pinch and ask myself what was I doing! But I could see these players were trying to play and to be honest it was only two set pieces which they scored from . .but the potential was there and no long balls . . .so the old fire was starting to stir inside once more...mind you I got a real soaking that day on the way home! So from that point I have been to every home game since and have enjoyed it very much and seen some old friends. If you understand that this is Conference North football and you are not watching Man City at the moment, you can thoroughly enjoy the endeavors of these young lads trying to work hard as we could all see on Tuesday being down to 10 men . . . proper football. To be applauded off at full time for more than five minutes is a credit to Darren, his staff and his players. So it's Leamington on Saturday and lets hope the run keeps going. Sometime it will come to an end, but I am sure it isn't for the want of trying. On a nostalgic note, I found my Barrow scarf, which my dad bought me in 1964 when I was seven. We would stand at the Steelworks end, with my football rattle in one hand, being told off by big Bill Fox, dad's policeman friend for having your legs over the wall. . .happy days!! First post . . well that wasn't too bad, ha! Fingers crossed others like me will start coming through the turnstiles. 'Come on Barrow' :scarf:

Can see plenty of grass there no problem. In the Wilke years we played Gateshead in a new years day fixture with patches of the ground covered in that much water. Tell them to bring their water wings. ;)

Can anyone ever recall the ground ever being flooded, not just the pitch? Probably game on but the weather dominating proceedings, we seem to get one of these extreme weather games each season.

Looking at the metoffice (link here to Barrow five day forecast) the current forecast has the weather at kick-off on Saturday... Yellow wind warning. 33 mph winds, 53 mph gusts. Heavy rain, 6°C feels like 0°C. Little change throughout the match, just less rain. Weather on Friday has a yellow snow warning on it as temperatures are expected to be rather low on Friday morning. The rain should break at some point through the early part of Saturday before we all get up, it will come in again about midday and get heavy again in time for kick-off. All subject to change but it's not looking very nice, expect a low gate if it is bad.

Tonights regional BBC TV has been warning of 10m high tide just after midday and NW Evening Mail rather dramtically reports 11m with a dramatic front page to boot, they say flooding expected on Walney Island and surrounding coast. They point out the expected tide will be as high as the dock museums dock gate. Book your submarines now.

Of course in most years since it has been like that in every away game at the International Stadium. :)

And even though he barely lasted half a season there, it seemed on Tuesday as if Boyes had developed gills. Of course with my eyesight it may just have been a dodgy attempt at a beard.

So the question is do I book my train for Saturday morning? If I book now I can get a fairly cheap deal and first class on the way up as well. If I wait then it will be almost £100 and I won't be coming. Sounds like it is okay at the moment but there is heavy rain forecast for tomorrow. Decisions, decisions!

Wouldn't have been thinking about this one but I was planning on Gloucester game last weekend and doubt I will be able to make the Tuesday night re-arranged one on 18th.

It'll be on Si, the pitch stood up really well on Tuesday.

Cheers guys,

Annoyingly the first class option has gone but I have found a similar priced alternative. I might just wait until tomorrow because I have seen it before where the first class alternative re-appears on the Friday. Looks like I am in for a blinking early start on Saturday either way as to get a decent price I am having to leave at 0545 and even then it is a tight connection :S

Our groundsman Gareth from (earthly matters) a avid AFC fan and one
Of the nicest men I've met is doing above and beyond and the pitch
Will be tip top come match day. And I'm 100% the game will go ahead
And I really can't wait as have that massive feeling again that if I don't
Go I'll miss it and be gutted. Edmo and his team are making me proud
And the effort is second to none.
