Wait until those SW winds come, October/November time it may well and truly take off big style!!Jonty wrote:I think it will only take off if you can get into it before coming into the ground. If you can't then it is not going to be used by fans as a meeting place pre-match. Get this right and set it out as a proper pre-match fan zone with all the things others have suggested and it would be good.
The "tent"

Re: The "tent"
Completely agree with this (Unsurprisingly, as I was there at the time...)
The basic idea is good, as it's closer to the game, spacious etc, but it's being massively under-imagined. The lack of drinks etc on offer doesn't help, and it needs several more fridges to ensure that all drinks served are cold (Nobody wants a warm cider).
Some starters for 10....

Some starters for 10....
- Cask ales etc, or at least lager and cider on tap
- More fridges
- TV/projectors
- More places to sit
- A bit of music
- Occasional live bands? Comics? Stick Andy Cook on the stage, let's just see what happens.
- Pool tables, table football and air hockey? Things that the Crossbar could have done with but has never had space for
- A stall with a bit of merchandise
- Hog roast or some burgers/hot dogs or similar
- Table with some colouring in books or something

Re: The "tent"
I can see your point Elaine (or at least, what I assume is your point, that those things cost money) but if it drives up business then it could be profitable on it's own, or at least pay for themselves while pushing up bar profits through greater football.
We don't necessarily need all of those things, but a few of them could help. Right now it's just a tent and a fridge, and can't have done much more on Saturday than pay for the wages of the two lasses behind the bar, considering there were about 20 of us in there.

Re: The "tent"
I would guess that a main point on the tent is security.
Saw the 2 girls on Saturday having to carry the beer back into the club.
Start putting loads of stuff in there, who moves it all?
Can't leave it in as will just get stolen.

You could have offered to drink it, Al. Save them having to carry it back.boyliegladbach wrote:I would guess that a main point on the tent is security.

Re: The "tent"
The marquee wasn't a long term thing but is it being replaced with a tent?
It is a good idea but it needs to be developed more and for fans to use it. Some older people need to have somewhere to sit.

Re: The "tent"
Last few games Ive enjoyed going in there half time and its a part of my match day...hope they do replace with something smaller and similar but going back to the porta loos, looks like theve all vanished and were back in the condemned popular side toilets with no hand washing facilities and using the communal spoons at the snack bar!!!
urgggggh

Re: The "tent"
Noticed yesterday how dead the tent was compared to the first game (fair enough the attendance was no where near as much) seems 90% of people preferred the cross bar. Noticed a bouncer there as well? o.0
