Very patchy performance, we looked guilty of paying them far too much respect - sat too deep at times instead of putting them under pressure.
Unlucky with a few chances and the offside goal I guess. Credit to them, they worked hard closing us down and only really threatened a few times.
Like Mark said, would have accepted 4/6 of the last 2 fixtures, but these really were there for the taking.
Be interesting to see if the Cook could in 1st half could have been a red or not on the highlights.

Should've had a penalty.

On another day if things bounced our way we could've won 3-0, but it wasn't a great performance by any stretch.

Frustrating.

We set up as if we were playing Tranmere away... sat too deep and gave them far too much time on the ball.

Quite bright at times going forward, and for what it's worth (I'm sure some will shout me down) I thought Grimes did ok when we gave him the ball in the right areas, some clever little lay offs - he's never going to rattle folks fillings with tackles - but around the box a few things nearly came off, but afraid many have already made their mids up about him.

Ref was average at best, Cook hauled down on the edge of the area, looked to me like the last man, but ref only booked him.

Cook hit post and keeper made smart save low down off him as well. Just didn't have the drive through midfield, we still lack a general in there....

Little moment in about the 70th minute when we've just equalised and are pushing for a winner tells you everything. They're in possession, we're finally starting to press up the field and trying to force the issue only for Edmo to start screaming at the team to get back deeper into positions and stand off them, waving his arms and shouting at everyone to get back.

If Haworth wasn't injured today then Edmo wants shooting for bringing him off for Newby. At that point Pilks had run himself into the ground and could barely walk nevermind run. He even shook his head himself at the fact he'd stayed on and Haworth had gone off.

I like Grimes, the players seem to like him and he's much better than Walker at what he does. Not sure why Edmo doesn't like him, granted we're not really playing to his strengths in games but then nobodys strengths are to just sit back and hope an aimless punt forward will fall nicely...

Midfield frightening again just how easily even poor teams can at times cut through them. Mellor was pretty good creatively and Cowps was his usual busy self in possession looking to make things happen, which he does very well to be fair, but we've got two central midfielders there who don't tackle and seem pretty devoid of positional sense when we don't have the ball. Add that in to the fact our wingers don't track back (how often when the opposition is counting can you see both strikers and both wingers stood with their hands on their hips at the other end), and you can see why teams cut through us like a hot knif through butter at times.

The problem with this team is very few of them seem to be willing to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and win it for us, it's too easy to just do a stupid little flick or lay off and pass both the ball and the buck to someone else. At one point they had a corner which we won the head of and then proceeded to flick it on again on the edge of the box to Walker who again flicked it on ahead of him to nobody. The only one of our team who'll actually get on the ball and want to run with it and take on the responsibility is Haworth, and tbh i'm sick to death of him getting berated for keeping hold of the ball, when it seems patently obvious that nobody else actually wants it off him!

Absolutely! I said that when we were 1 down that I can't see anyone on the field to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and change it. I guess those sorts of players are few and far between, but we certainly need a driving force in there.

After the first 15 minutes of seeing that Welling were here for a point and posing absolutely no threat whatsoever, I thought it was a home banker. Somehow they end up in the lead at halftime but I was still certain we would be too strong second half and have enough to come back out and win it. Sure enough Cooky delivers the goods and it's game on. Then it just got increasingly frustrating- someone/who!? is going to take control out there and be the absolute difference in making us a pretty decent /consistent side and bring that little bit of quality to help the whole team step up that extra notch and have us putting games like this to bed inside the first half. Frustrating because I think it may just be one or two players that will make that difference.

We like a Sheridan type central midfielder at the club. If, somehow, we can find such a player then I'm certain we will move up the table rapidly. We are getting better (I think - fingers crossed) but central midfield is a problem.

Another game there for the taking but unfortunately we couldn't do it.Thank God for Cooky as he always puts a shift in and is difficult to play against.I have to disagree with Ian and Ste.I don't think Grimes is worth his place. He can't head a ball, can't tackle and generally is lazy. One or two flicks doesn't make him any good.In my opinion Walker and Cook caused them more trouble and I would use this pair upfront with Wilson injured.I can't understand Elliot Newby coming on for Howarth with two mins to go.It doesn't give him a chance of getting into the game.Give the lad twenty mins to show us what he can do.An unspectacular performance but hopefully we have enough to get past Fylde next week.

Welling were the worst team I've seen here all season imo,we should of won easy but we didn't.not being able to win 2 on the trot is frustrating to say the least.looking at the table I can see us just going between 11th and 15th no higher or lower which wouldn't b so bad in our first season back up but dropped points from today, kiddy Halifax alty it could b so much more.very frustrating
how we get there i don,t no.Barrows on the way

A draw was a fair result on the balance of play. We were unlucky to strike the woodwork twice but they did plenty of the pressing in the second half. I agree that Welling were highly beatable but can't agree that they were playing for the draw. I feel credit goes to them for trying to attack us at every opportunity, particularly in the second half, though this is partly because we once again faded in the middle of the park and they were able to run through us too easily in that second period and launch attacks, albeit without actually frightening us. We should have gone on to win after the inspiration of an equaliser early in the second half but we lost a bit of intensity or energy or something and there was plenty of open space in the middle. Why is that? Not Fade Away was a hit for the Rolling Stones in 1964 but was actually written by Buddy Holly.

I am pleased the ref had the good sense to have the lights on from 2.30 till 5.00 as it was the darkest broad daylight I have ever seen. Perhaps he could consider a career in politics as the Westminstery types have all got bags of common sense and are careful not to waste money.

Yet again another strange Edmo substitution, taking off Howarth when Pilks was goosed.
Again we played too deep allowed Welling to attack us to easily.
Midfield disappeared once again ,
Got to agree with Nick , Grimes ,for all his so called higher league experience ,imo very poor .
Need another striker and its looking very much like we have a 'sick note' in Wilson :(
Two points lost today.

The only positive thing I can say from today's game against a bunch of time wasting, diving southerners was that we didn't lose.

The rest was awful.

We need to employ a certain southern footballing tactic, the fall and scream. Ref's bloody well love and award a free kick nine times out of ten!
