Fully agree about Carroll. Would also point out we have bona fide defenders in Ashton and S.Williams (some might disagree !) so why play others out of position .

Anticipated that. Cooky told carlisle to get to [SwearFilter] remember ;) and livesey was hardly in decline when he came to us he has been our rock! Not enough heart for me symmo would of preffered to have kept young burns on than sign symington.

Burns was by far the better full back and had the passion to go with it
Just my opinion

Interesting to note that Dave Symington left Barrow to pursue a career ‘away from the game’ at Workington. I’m not sure exactly what to make of that; however he scored last night.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

I dont think we need notification every time an ex player scores W/G.

I think the point WG was trying to make was that Symington proclaimed he was leaving the game and then he crops up at Workington! Faint echos of his former team mate Andy C**T who (apparently) proclaimed he wouldn't leave our club for a team in the same league...

Just a little light-hearted whimsical irony on the part of our friend, WG . . . insinuating that what they do at Borough Park (and what Dave Symington has moved on to and become part of) is far away from the game of soccer as it is normally recognised. Or as Spock once said to Captain Kirk as they were leaving the bridge: “Workington . . . it’s football, Jim, but not as we know it”. Mind you, if it was within the last twelve months that Spock uttered those immortal words then it was a case of pots and kettles because the same thing could have been directed at Chelsea last season.
