I think Chris Altree (of the Trust Travel group) is at the game tonight. I will try to contact him for a pie review.

Just some additional information on UCFB. Over 93% of individuals that come out with a degree end up in employment, more than half of which are in the sporting industry. We are lucky enough to meet with people that already work in the industry, either in the media or other business departments, in football clubs or other sporting institutions. I have already met, during my first 5 months; Mike Phelan, Brendon Flood, Stewart Pearce, David Moyes and Clarke Carlisle. We are given opportunities throughout for non-match day experiences and opportunities to work as interns in many of the Football League Clubs in the UK, helping us to progress into successful careers. Finally, there is extra complementary curriculum enabling ourselves to boost our CV's with additional qualifications making us more appealing to the working environment. I think it is safe to say that partaking in a degree like this, in something I am very passionate about, in such inspirational locations (Wembley, Etihad and Real Madrid) is worth doing. Plus, I think we will have some idea; having been taught by some of the most successful individuals in sport.
Stuart Pearce ;)

Well said though. How many times have we complained about the failings of both the old regime and the new one. Maybe if we had people who were, you know, trained in how to run a football club, we wouldn't have had those problems

Part of my degree course is looking at how football clubs can engage with customers, using fan experience and fan engagement. All students at UCFB, both Wembley and The Etihad learn this, along with having full support from the lecturers. The whole idea of this website and blog is to not just learn, but gain and actually take part in something that will engage with people. It will assist me in obtaining employment within the Football Marketing Industry, having learnt both the academic and practical skills needed.
No need to apologise - at least you corrected it - shows initiative and that you're paying attention to detail.

I'm sorry I can't help you with your pies survey. I never eat them - well not at the footy, anyway.
I don't think there's any need for pies to be sold in football stadiums - but I realise many do enjoy one.

If The Bluebirds are playing away I usually take a packed lunch with me or go for a bite to eat in a pub.

if we're at home - I have a meal before attending the game. Simple! :D

I've never understood the need to eat at at the footy.
If you have a good breakfast and some lunch - why would you feel the need to eat between 3-5pm in the afternoon?

Why don't you do some research on Greed Opposed To Need of football fans and food?
That'd be a good 'un! :D

Where did they say it was an English course?

I did a Computer Science degree, but that doesn't mean I can spell. In fact, it was while at University that I accepted I'd never be able to spell the word manoeuvre without a spellchecker.

The idea of Altree going into food journalism is terrifying

I agree but I was praising the fact that the lass corrected her mistakes. Many wouldn't have.

This may not be much use to you, but I will record it here anyway for posterity. The worst pie I ever had was at South Liverpool (now defunct) in the 1983-84 season. It was some kind of pre-packaged pastie, and it made me violently ill later that evening when I got home. And to make matters worse, the actual game was our first defeat of the season.

I have never bought food at a football ground since. To be honest, I don't know why people get so worked up about pies, etc. at football grounds. I go there to watch football, period. It is not difficult to organise meals before/after the game. Or if you're so desperate that you can't last a couple of hours without eating, then taking food with you is likely to have a lot better nutritional value than anything you can buy at a football ground.

I think you'll find that ALL Universities are now checking the English standards of ALL students, no matter what the course.

Apparently, employers are getting sick of employing graduates with a poor grasp of English - it makes sense.

Every student has to pass GCSEs and A Levels to obtain a place at a University.
Having a poor sense of English would't exactly help with that, would it? Unless you're intending to study on a Micky Mouse course :D in which case you'd probably get away with downloading false GCSE/A Level Certificates...

It wouldn't help, but neither is it a barrier, judging by the evidence that I see every day.

Interesting...
I read that Colleges and Universities were clamping down on the poor use of English in all subjects - Government intervention, apparently.

I remember once looking at an essay written by the son of a friend of mine. He'd received good marks and I asked if I could take a peek - I was quite shocked to find mistakes and inconsistencies throughout - I was even more shocked knowing that it was for an Postgraduate English Masters (MA) course! I'd studied at the same University (as a mature student) and had graduated 7/8 years earlier - any first draft would have been handed back to myself and my peers and we would have been asked to rectify the mistakes before submitting our final draft. The fact that my friend's son had received good marks for that essay astounded me! He also graduated with flying colours. I had to defer from passing any detrimental remarks with regard to my friend's son's essay or the person who marked it due to my close friendship with the family. However, I was appalled. I applauded when I read, a few years later, of the government's decision to 'tighten up' poor English and poor marking procedures in our Universities.
